So my innovate mtxl plus has been acting up lately where the gauge would stay full lean for a few seconds. My replacement sensor isn’t that old, maybe a year and about 1k miles. I called innovate ms and they told me that there’s a firmware update that was released a few months ago.

My laptop doesn’t have this cable insert. What is this end called? I assume there’s a USB adapter for this.

Here is the link for the firmware update

You need a USB to Serial adapter. The plug you are showing there is a DB9 connector, in this case being used to facilitate RS-232 (Serial) communication. I prefer the TrippLite (USA-19HS) but that is not the cheapest. Really, anything on amazon is probably going to work.

Thanks, Kevin!

Would this work?

Hmm, it's odd that your issue would be related to outdated firmware... Companies tend to always suggest updating stuff, so I guess it wont hurt. Do let us know how it goes, I haven't updated mine since I installed it in 2019.

He didn’t confirm that it will fix my issue. The adapter will be here Sunday so I’ll update this post afterwards. 👍

The new firmware is version 1.03 and my gauge had 1.02. It says in bold not to update if you have the current version. I did the update and free air calibrated the sensor afterwards. It seems to be better but it’s still a little lazy when I’ve been driving for more than 20 minutes. I’m going to try my old sensor now 🤞

Another thing to try now that you have the adapter is to reset on the different settings pages. That has helped me in the past. That being said, a change in behavior over time would indicate a heat issue or a bad sensor.

What do you mean? Are there instructions for this in the manual?

The "Factory Defaults" button. You can click that on each page and reset the controller to the factory settings. Even if the page doesn't appear to be modified, this has actually helped me in the past with gauge/ECMLink recording issues.

Gotcha! I don’t have issues with logging but I’ll give it a shot. Thanks, Kevin!!
