Injen Intake + HKS SS BOV

Ok, I couldn't find the answer to my question.

I'm a newb btw...

This is the situation, I have right now an Injen Intake (Stock BOV) which recirculates back, and I'm looking to buy a HKS SS BOV. I was wondering if there are any extra steps/procedures I would need to do before or during the installation of my BOV. I have called a few companies up, and they said that it should be fine letting the BOV vent into the atmosphere. But since you guys are the DSM gods, I'm hoping you could provide me with the answer .

ive got the injen intake that uses the aftermarket bov i vent to the atmosphere and ive not seen a whole lot of issues but i still want to recirculate or get a blow thru. id say recirculate cause its the general statement here. my car doesnt idle weird or any thing but from what ive read some people experience issues.

1 thing i have noticed is when i disconnect the battery i have to let it run for like 20 minutes before i can drive it or it will just keep dieing. once ive let it run its ok.

MrE -- don't listen to this guy.

Buy a recirculation kit, and run your car the correct way (unless you have a maf-t blowthrough setup, search if you don't know what it is). You will NOT see anything close to 'considerable gains' between venting and recirculating.

That's a whole lot of issues.

When you vent, you lose air that your MAS has already counted. You're throwing off your ECU's fuel adjustments. You're wasting fuel. Blah, blah, blah, blah...

Not every car runs in the same manner. Recycle your air.

Just listen to most of the people, DON"T vent.

i have the hks ssqv, and i tried vent and not vent.

when u vent, all u get is the sound, that's all. and u lose power....
u can try it urself, at a hot day, try to drive it vent with the ac on. (it feels like u r driving a civic)
after that, try recirculate and u know what i mean.

So if I get the recirc kit, it should be alright to use with my current Injen Intake(Product Code IS1890) right? Is there a way to make a kit or would I have to go to my local shop to get it? And what do you think are the chances of the shop having it available there?

To the person who also has the HKS SS, does it require any sort of welding to install the stuff which it comes with?

HKS valve will have a different mounting flange. The flange needs to be purchased and then welded to your pipe. Recirculation "kit" ($15-$20 on eBay) is just a fitting that inserts on top of the HKS valve--you supply your hose and connect it to the intake at the stock location.

What are the chances of the shop having it there? Who knows. Call and ask. They might be able to order it for you if they don't normally carry it, but it will cost you more. if you could please explain to us how venting gave you more horsepower then maybe all the threads of people asking the same question won't of been useful at all. Also, how does slowing the turbo spool time give you more power?

This thread is getting rediculous. MrE, the answer is "YES" if you get a recirculation kit, it will work with your injen intake. As long as it's an intake with a BOV dump tube option, it will work. I'm asking for a lock now.
