So I just got an injen intake (used) for a great deal. The filter is a black injen filter. My bro told me it's pretty dirty after he inspected it and said I should clean it. Any suggestions on how I should go about cleaning this? It's a dry filter not an oil filter if that helps any. Thanks

Hmm that is weird. It specifies how to re-oil your filter and what not. But I don't have an oil filter. I can actually hand wash it? That's what I was thinking about doing but didn't know if it would damage the filter. How would I wash it exactly? Just hose it down or something? I would think this is bad for the filter or something.

Clean your filter with a normal hand soap, dip it in water for some minutes and dry it in sunlight.
After you have to use the specific oil for a road use.. For a racing use u can also use a dry filter, but is always better a dry filter..

Is there any way you can tell just by inspecting the filters if they're dry or oil filters? Cause I've seen other people with the injen "Performance Dry Filter" so I don't think all injen filters are all oiled.

you can find out if the filter is an oiled or dry filter by checking to see if it has a serial or part number on it and either try putting it into injen's website or google to find it. once you figure that out, clean it with water (slight pressure if possible) and normal soap, then let it sun or air dry. if its a dry filter, throw it back on, if its an oil filter then be sure to apply the correct oil then put it back on.

oh also, be sure ALL the soap is completely out before you dry it...

98gsxTX , the number is X-1018. The problem is there are a few of those on their site and I can't tell which one it is besides the fact that it's black so I think I'm just left deciding between two or three. Problem is, the site doesn't seem to say whether it's oiled or dry.

Thanks for all the cleaning tips guys. I'm not sure if the type of soap matters but if it does, it would be nice to know which to use. Now I just need to find out what kind of filter I have.
