Injectors and 14b, what's too much?

I'm at the point of another big upgrade. I'm looking to max out my 14b, and in doing so will be adding a 255 wally, fpr, injectors, DSMLINK, and wideband. Keep in mind I plan in the near future to make the transition to E85, which leads into my question at hand. Can you go "overboard" when buying injectors? Keep in mind when $$$ alows I will upgrade to a bigger turbo as well, so I really only want to buy injectors once. Would 1000cc injectors be running to low a duty cycle to be effective on pump gas alone with only a 14b? I know I could get away with slightly smaller running only a 14b and e85, but I would like to leave some room for a bigger turbo as well. Thoughts from those that know....

Sounds like you have a good plan.

Thats the beauty of DSMlink. You can run those big injectors like they are stock and leave headroom for future upgrades.

If your running the link than you should not worry about running big injectors

Whats up fellow lincolnite. With the link pretty much any injector will work fine, minus 1600's. 1600's would possibly work on e85 with a bigger turbo, but they still tend to stumble and mis at part throttle. Depending on how big of a turbo you may eventually run, i'd get some 1150's, thats what i need. I have 950's and they aren't enough for e85, on my turbo anyway. Anyhow, if you need anymore help i'd be glad to come over sometime and help ya. I've done pretty much anything you can want or not want to do to these things. Good luck!

Noot true Aaron. You can tune out 97% of the 1600's issues. And believe me, I have done it with dsmlink on 7 different cars now.

With that said, we have a 1600cc E85 powered 14b 1G seeing duty cycles around 30-35%. He is of course going to upgrade turbos this year hopefully. Car runs great actually.

Thanks for the info guys. The only thing I'm worried about going with the 1600cc is if/when I can't
find E85 and was forced to run 92(all I can get from pumps around here). I know for an inexperienced tuner like myself it would be a little easier with 1000cc. Plus, I plan to get acquainted with the link and pumpgas before makin the jump to e85. I guess it's mainly all falling on how big of snail I plan to go with, thanks again, any feedback is welcomed. I stand corrected, I have not had any experience tuning with 1600's so its all second hand knowledge from me. I'm glad to hear that though, maybe I'll just throw in 1600's now and call it a day. Thank you sir.

Hey v8 where can you get 92 at? Only place I've found it was at some station way down south on like hwy 77. Maybe biglady will chime in on tuning 1600's on pump gas, like i said I've always been told they are a pain to get dialed in, especially on pump. But like i said i have never had a chance to mess with injectors of that size. Good luck!

BP on west O, or Old Cheney/14 st. Bp is the only place I've found.

Not hard at all. Just like tuning smaller injectors. Just have to "adjust" more for the longer dwell time. Gas, Alcohol, Methonal, E85 it doesn't matter. The injectors function just the same on any fuel. I will say they do better with higher idles.

I"m finding it at more and more BP's all over, i guess it's in more places than i though ( usually only one pump at the entire station though at smaller places). I would make the swap, but i have enough cold starting pains to want to go there just yet. I'm hoping to pull similar results from 91 pump and more alcohol/water mix. The things i am reading now, are things i WISH i had read before i went to the dyno the other day. I only hope to god the info is correct, i contacted the original poster dsm-oster, but haven't heard back.

We're talking about 92 octane pump, not e85.:thumb: And i am/have made the switch, and starting sucks, but i had issues before the e85, although i don't really drive it in the winter anyway so o well. Just wait til we get my car tuned, you'll want to switch. :D
