1G Incorrectly placed speedo cable

Whoever worked on my laser last put the speedo cable to the left of the clutch pedal adjustment. I checked my 93 TSI, and it is to the right of the clutch pedal.

The problem with it being on the left of the clutch pedal is that it lands right over the clutch pedal adjustment and there is really no way to get it out of the way.

We all know how important access to that adjustment is.

If you were me, would you correct this by pulling the cable from the instrument cluster side or the trans side?

I'd obviously have to reattach it later.

Which is easier?

I removed it from the trans side. I had some difficulty, but got it done.
