How does this fact concerning the wheel speed and damaging apply to turning? This thread let me with the impression that wheels turning at different speeds can damage the car. When turning the out side wheels turn faster...though slightly.

Would that mean there is wear and tear because of this.

When turning wheel speeds are only slightly different. From reading about a viscous coupling i learned that they lock up when oil inside heats up from plates inside turning at different speeds, so during regular cornering that oil does not get a chance to heat up much. As far as wear and tear goes, since it is only oil that actually moves between things there won't be any, at least as long as this oil stays a fluid.
You brought up an interesting point and hopefully more people will have something to say about it.
