in dash monitor question

I am looking to buy an in-dash monitor, I have found a 6.4" clarion monitor I am thinking about buying. Instead of buying a dvd player I was just going to buy a Slim PS2 and and wire it to the monitor and use the ps2 as a game console and dvd player. My question is, what all do I need to do this? Power inverter, adapter, wires? I have a pioneer head unit. Please if you have any input I would appreciate it. Thanks

Alright it all depends on how you want the installation done, if you want it done so you can remove the ps2, a power inverter would work well, but I would still wire that power inverter within the dash (do you know how to hardwire in a cigarette lighter adapter?). Then with your lcd head unit it will come with a brain which has outputs and inputs in which I would plug your regular wires into the brain and thats how your ps2 will work.

I dont have to be able to remove the ps2. If it is easier to wire it to stay in the car, then thats the route I will go. I didnt plan on taking the ps2 out. Now, let me get this straight, with my pioneer CD player(p720 kinda old) that will hook up to the monitor and the ps2 will hook up to the monitor. I know there is an adapter I am missing somewhere? The monitor I planned on putting it in the dual slot where the stock radio was, and moving my CD player to the center vent(fiberglass everything).....any more suggestions feel free, more the better

No, Monitors need a brain unit to connect all their inputs and outputs to. You will need a brain to get the monitor to work with all your shit. I recommend getting an in-dash monitor, but if you want to stick with the monitor you got, then you need a brain.

so your telling me that just having my Pioneer head unit, Clarion monitor, power inverter, wiring adapter and ps2 wont work? I have to have a "brain", what exactly is a "brain". I suppose I am confused. One of my buddies was going to do the same thing and he bought a wiring adapter to go from his cd player to the monitor(or monitor to ps2, whichever one) and he tells me that this will work. Not saying he's right, but just curious. Thanks

you need the brain for the monitor. the brain is the part that you can connect the a/v or rca cables to so you can view it on the monitor. you are best off selling the unit you have and buying an indash navigation/dvd/cd player. you can get one off ebay for under 200$
