Im lookin at a fmic for the 14b on ebay!!

I guess it's nice for a smaller turbo, but if you don't plan on upgrading your 14b then just stick with the smic. I never had any problems with heatsoaking my smic with my 14b. Honestly the only thing you'd probably notice with that FMIC is a little bit of pressure drop. If you plan on getting a larger turbo in the future, just get a good sized fmic when it's needed.

LAN- is selling a nice intercooler kit which has a 550 cubic inch intercooler for a very reasonable price. I just purchased it and it works great.

Wouldn't he have to hack up his front bumper to take advantage of a larger intercooler? It looks like it's about the size of the opening in the front.

If the intercooler was really huge, then just a little bumper hacking maybe. It's really not the bumper that usually gets hacked on though, it's the bumper support that generally gets cut for a big fmic.

I have a friend with that intercooler on a 92 laser with an EvoIII. His best run last summer was an 11.87 with his water injection disconnected on that run and a little race gas in the mix. It was pretty much a bolt on with no cutting of the bumper supports.

Thanks this is why Im considering this intercooler. I really dont have no plans to get a bigger turbo!! With this front mount I doubt I would have to cut the bumper

Um. ok. I don't understand why you're mad. I wasn't being rude when I said 'take it or leave it'. I was just stating the fact that most of us thought that fmic wasn't worth it, but you still seemed adamant about getting it, because ultimately the decision is up to you. No reason to get mad.

Edit:
I see you're running a Supra sidemount, why not just keep that? That's perfect for the 14b at 18psi.

JDM sports yall, must be a kickass fmic. :D :p Personally, I would try and find an used Supra side mount.

FMIC = bling... oh yeah with LAN-'s kit, I had to cut 1/4 of the crash beam, I had the option to take out the crash beam but that doesn't make me feel secure enough (although it's great weight reduction :) ) haha

Maybe he just wants it for the looks of the front mount. I don't know how you can own a dsm and not have the desire to get a bigger turbo. I still can't wait to get rid of this 17c.

Of course, I just got the SSAC kit and its big but it'll help a 14b. Yeah you have to modify the crash beam but I think the look and performance is worth it.

personally, i don't buy from places that advertise everything as JDM.

Anyway... if you're just sticking with the 14b (and I agree, how can you have a DSM without plans of upgrading...) the supra sidemount will do just fine. I've managed to heat soak my stock smic with the 14b, so an IC upgrade is not a bad idea. I picked up a nice sized fmic, but I also plan on going with a 20g. For a 14b... supra, or a dejontool smic might do the trick.

If you are not planning on upgrading your turbo, stick with the supra sidemount. If you ever plan on upgrading in the future i would go with the bushur FMIC, their kit may be a bit expensive but you pay for what you get. Cheap does not equal efficient.
