I'm buying the wh1c it's the hx35 with the smaller exhaust housing twin scroll,it needs to be rebuild because of some in and out play,I wanted to know where the best place to get a twin scroll turbo manifold from.And I'm only paying $100 for the turbo. here is the only two pics I have Thank yall for any info.

Yeah that's the one I have and love it. I've had both the DSM flanged ones before I finally switched to this one. The boost tapered off too much in the upper rpms with the DSM flanged ones for my liking.

It is a Vband outlet, so you will need a Vband O2 housing. Not sure who makes them. I got the flange & clamp and made my own. http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=23485&cat=1758&page=1
 
+1 vband DP is going to b a custom job. Take it to a good exh fab shop and have them do it. Its gonna kick ass with the flow compared to the other housing. Its worth it. And if you ever want a 40 on there its a simple easy swap, everything should line up just fine.
 
Ok, the difference between the two are, one is for the dsm style,and the other is a T3 style, does one really help with and spool, over the other if so could you tell by the lag or when the boost comes on.I'm trying to fine to right route to go with my build.

I have a brand new 3 inch megan racing down on my car now,with a 3 inch exhaust no cat or resonator. I'm not trying to really buy another dp right now.
 
Up to around 25-30 psi you won't notice much difference in the boost tapering off. It was when I got around 30-35+ that it would start to fall off in the upper rpms most likely from exhaust back pressure due to the lower AR and I was running a 2.5" O2 housing. Now I have a full 3" turbo back exhaust.

The .55 AR in the BEP DSM housing and the .63 AR in the T3 housing spooled nearly identical. 20-25psi around 3800-4000 rpms. Aggressive timing curve and 60% E85 help the spool.

The .70 AR is a little slower to full boost, but the airflow/psi is higher so you really don't notice. It is far from having what I would consider boost lag, and Ive run a 14b, Evo3 16g & 18g for comparison. I hit 35-37 psi by 4600-4700 rpms, which is still about 20-25 psi by 3800-4000 IIRC.

If you are really interested in specifics, I can look thru some logs tomorrow. Every car is different, and some people complain about it being a laggy turbo :confused:
 
That would be cool, I planned on building my talon for 500-600 horsepower, and after talking with the guy i'm getting the turbo from he did say that it is a WH1C turbo,if that helps any also talk to one of my good friend he sent me a pic of his motor with the Dnp turbo manifold with his holset hx35 on,I must say I think I like the way it looks with that set up.

If your just looking for decent power for a street drive car, I'd suggest the bolt-on route. It will limit your maximum potential. But it's a simple and reliable setup that still performs well. I went with the bolt-on housing for my H1E (HX40) and haven't had any regrets about it. To be fair I'm also burning E85, so it's very easy to push a turbo harder than most. But it's a nice mix of price, performance, and simplicity.

Here's a couple pics of my current setup just to give you an idea. I went with an FP Race manifold, Punishment MVS O2 housing, and of course BEP .55 housing.

Dang!! that's a nice setup you got there.

Well the more an more I look at the forum and read I think i'm going to go with the BEP .55 housing. Now the fun part is to fine out what turbo manifold I want to run now. and thank yall for the info,if ya'll have any more info let me know.
 
The fp is great! My buddy is trying to convince me to pick up his hx35 if I do I will use the fp I have it has down wonders for my small baby turbo so I can only imagine what it would do on something like that.
 
I ran a hx35 with the bep housing and a DNP manifold. my buddy also ran a hx35 without the bep housing and ran a dark performance manifold (MAP used to sell them)
 
My dnp worked great for my bolt on hx40, then i upgraded to t3 and a 44mm tial :)

yea, I'm looking at the fp race manifold and the dnp manifold, I like the look of both so I guess I need to make my mind up.
 
The fp doesn't have a waste gate provision, and the internal gate .55 bep sucks. And the .70 doesn't have a waste gate provision, so it's needed to be off the manifold.

Your not looking at a "little" money when going twin scroll, usually your looking at a $1000 manifold, and two $500 waste gates. Some holsets arent even sold with their turnine housing. So you would have to take into account an oem holset turbine housing which i couldn't tell you what that cost.

Here's what i would do... Depending on your goals

1. Dsm flange .55 and a manifold with a wastegate provision. Stock o2 housing

2.T3 flange .70 AR and T3 manifold with wastegate provision and a 3" vband o2 housing

Thing is the t3 version is quite a bit more expensive because usually a t3 manifold cost a lot more, and you would have to finagle a 3" vband o2 housing. To go with it.

But it's totally up to op, thats my two cents.

Wes, I see you are using a FP black inline filter.

Since the black one is .030" inches (for BB turbos), did you drill a new sized hole for the filter? I know holsets are JB and need plenty of oil.

If you did, what size did you redrill the hole too?

Yes, I used a 7/64" (.109) drill bit to enlarge the restrictor. I don't have insanely high oil pressure since I still have the front balance shaft, so the restrictor size is pretty close to FP's full-flow JB filters.

That engine bay shames me, i gotta dress mine out. Beautiful job Wes. A lot of time and effort in that car and i can tell things weredone right.

You would never need two 44mm wastegates with an HX35. Two 38's would do just fine, or a single 44mm. The OP already said he had the factory turbine housing, all it needs is the wastegate MIG'd shut and a v-band welded on it.

I can see where a bolt-on housing would be cheaper, but a T3 you still need a dump fabricated, a new manifold, a wastegate, etc. It's really not much cheaper.

We've done several twin-scroll setups here at the shop. I still think the advantages far outweigh the cost. At least for a street car or something that needs the spool.

If you have a manifold fabricated, you can put the turbo wherever you want. This is a major advantage when it comes to downpipe/radiator clearance.

I've never seen anyone regret their decision to go twin-scroll. They're always blown away by the turbo response. :thumb:
 
If you need or want to run low boost, you need more wastegate.. that said there's little point to running a twin scroll t3 or t4 setup and running low boost. I run two 38s on my hx52, and have a full size radiator. fwiw.

You can run just one wg on a twin scroll? That makes it a much more appealing option. I did not know that. I dontknow alot about twins though
