here is a local guys car (dodge avenger) and where his tweeters are mounted, sounds decent to me!

Why dont you just follow the install link on the window sail install, or just put them in the stock tweeter location? rather than drill into your door panel.

fire: short answer "equal path lengths"

that design puts one tweeter about 2 feet way while the other is over 5 feet.

i' going with qforms cause i need the extra mid.
try the lower panels and aimed at the roof right in between or just aft off the front seats. should sound pretty clean.

im still waking up, i was like.... eeerrgg..... then it made sense and the sunlight came in and music played.

This is very true....

i cant do kick pods, when i hit a corner, i hit a corner, i need my foot, or else id have pods in the works.

But door pods on the other hand....
Im keeping it to single 6.5 woof and tweet in pod, but the imaging is sensitive because Mb Quarts are notorious for being piercing tweets if not properly done. it took me a bit of time in the last car to get em right.

Thank you so much for responding, it really did help so much! have you seen any doorpods in clipse? im trying to get ideas on looks, etc. and then how to twist them to my own demented ideas.

do an angle mount tweeter only on the kicks, won't be as good as having both mid and tweet ahead of the door, but it will be better than both on the door.
did it in my bro's 93 ram that way and it did not come out too bad.

Im going to mount the tweeters in stock dash location.

Next year when im back in IL i will be doing a Custom Door panel install with my 6.5 woofers and Tweeters close by properly aimed.

ill letcha know how bad/etc the tweets sound. because a large issue with MB quart tweets.
They CANNOT be aimed at you. They sound piercing so they either have to hit near, or my best sucess bounced or else they are very high pitched. i dont know how to describe it but you get the best effect not aimed directly so itll be intresting.

you want in on a little secret??

Those little difusers that are on every MBquart tweeter are only there for dispersion and off-axis response. They are they main reason people who don't have big EQ's have problems tuning the sharpness out of quart tweets. With the diffusers in, On-axis response is crappy, and hates life because the diffusers interfere with the response. Off-axis is where the "stock" quart tweeters (hehe) respond the best.

Like I said, this is a little secret...
There are two.
1. Install the tweets flush mount in your kickpanels as close to the door as you can, but aim them towards the other side of the car.
2. Install the tweeters about 6 inches up your front A-pillars with them facing each other, not ahead.

This will help out Alot with the frequency response of the quart tweeters with the diffuser in. You won't get any shartp treble (more of a flat response). Putting them in the pillars will create a High soundstage, and you will LOVE it!!

Or if you don't want to do that, Find a way to mount the tweeters where they are pointing right at you and take the diffusers out. On-axis response on quart metal tweeters without the diffusers in is alot better, and will be alot less shrill.

One thing to remember, You need to keep the mid and tweeter a certain distance away from each other to avoid phasing problems. If the tweeter is closer than I think 6" to the mid, than it will result in the mid and tweet being out of phase. Anything over 12" apart will also result in the same way.

If you want an Awesome sounding system, mount your tweets in the A-pillars like I mentioned, keep the mids in the doors with lots of dynamat, and buy an Alpine ERA-G320 time processor (you can usually find one on ebay for around 100 or less $). You can input the distance of each driver from your ear, and the time processor will automatically adjust phasing and time delay so that everything arrives to your ears at the same time and on phase. The result is so awesome, it could be considered utopia.
You can also do this with a Pioneer DEQ-9200, I think. The deq-9200 has a neat ass little feature, also, called "AutoEQ". It comes with a little microphone, and you set it on the middle of your dash and select AutoEQ. Get out of your car and the unit will play a bunch of pink noise and frequency tests and will automatically adjust its EQ to give you the flattest, smoothest response. It also has 5 DSP soundfield presets (Studio, Jazz Club, Concert, Club, Stadium) which are AMAZING! It might not be the best for most listening, but If you're in the mood for something different (example, youlre listening to eric clapton), you just turn it on Jazz club and it's like listening to an Eric Clapton Live disc.

I'm done with my rambling..

well i got my qforms in... but not installed...
they are nothing more than extremely rigid and rugged plastic... there is no back like in the universal ones.

I also have mb quarts for my front stage, but I will probably set them the -3 db to start with and work my way down from there.

time differential processing is all well and god, but the closer you get to correct install to begin with the better it will sound.

those processors are the same as the onesin home theaters and trust me , you can't compensate for a crummy set up wit them.
better to set up as best you can 90%-95% ok and adjust to make up for the last 4-5% than to do a 60% correct install and try to band aid the last 40%.

just my professional opinion...

once i get my amp installed (which involves a full trunk reconfiguration and creation) I'll try putting in the MBQuarts and q forms

oh yeah i know... i was just throwing out information... Ive only used time correction once in my life, and the setup was as close to perfect as you could get before the time correction.
