Here's the situation. My car doesn't start and I needed to push it into my driveway. My friend was in the car and put the key in the ignition to be able to maneuver the car around.

Well he broke something and now when you put the key into the ignition, it is very loose and goes to the "start" position like nothing.

Also, I got a whole new ignition from a parts car (cylinder and everything) I was just wondering if I could just swap out tumblers without changing the whole ignition, because the bolts that hold the ignition to the column are impossible to take out with out a chisel and I don't want to go through that again.

Thanks.

Yeah, the ignition cylinder comes out by putting the key in the acc position and pressing in the pin on the bottom of the housing. I have an ignition cylinder if you need one.

I know and I already have one, all I am saying is can I swap out ignition cylinder/tumbler instead of the whole ignition

You can swap the cylinders, but I dont know about the tumblers themselves. I had a locksmith tell me he could, but I wouldnt attempt it myself. Its just way too easy to switch the cylinders and be done.
