i have the stock BOV (1G) so do i just unhook the hose that leads the air to the air filter and leave it at that? or no? what would i do if i wanted to TRY venting, just to see how loud it would be on stock BOV? and would there be any SEVER side effects that i couldn't fix, or would be expensive to fix if i just ran it for a couple of days to see how it does?

Thnx..

(please no replys that say "why do you wanna vent" answer the question)

Unhook it from the intake tube thing and plug the intake tube thing with a cap from a coke bottle. Side effects would be running rich, possibly letting unfiltered air into the intake, and maybe some other things that I can't think of

All you have to do is plug the return tube on the intake. No you won't have any major damage from venting.

If you vented for a day I doubt there would be any severe side effects. It would just be crappy to drive.

i know the side effects OF venting(running rich, bogging inbetween shifts) but i also know this varys form car to car, so im goin to check on my car...i was just making sure nothing TOO BIG was going to happen

Instead of venting it get the Dejon Tools 1G BOV leak stop kit. It will allow your BOV to hold over 30psi, and it makes a mean sound when the control solenoid vents. That way when you get your big turbo it will be functional and sound cool.

I had the same urge to try venting about six weeks ago - so I disconnected the tube from the BOV and had at. I loved the sound - the BOV didnt' leak much - it's crushed - but I hated that my car stumbled after a hard pull and then wanted to stall. Two days later, I went to reconnect the recirc tube and discovered that the stock recirc tube clamps are a MAJOR PITA to get back on - so much so that I decided to leave it apart until I could take the system apart and clean the IC - which I've been meaning to do anyway.

After a week or so, the car stopped stumbling & stalling. I'm not sure if I just learned how to use the throttle to counteract it subconsciously or whether the ECU adjusted its trimmings, but it wasn't all that bad. The only annoyance was that at the point where I was only feathering the throttle would cause the car to buck because the system wanted to release the BOV and there was no air getting into the system.

I reconnected the recirc tube when I installed my Dejon intake - too bad the stock tube tore open a week later and I was venting again, against my will. (I''ve jury rigged a temporary fix using plastic dishwasher tubing until I can get a rubber replacement tube)

Just thought I'd contribute my story from my "wanting to try venting".
