Idle'ing up and down

Just noticed on my way home from school that my idle while in neutral goes up and down. It stays above 1k, and hits all the way up to 1.8... Could this be a boost leak problem?

ive got the same problem...just started recently...except mine bounces all the way down to around 500 and right when its about to stall it jumps way up to 1800+...im running 272 cams and i think that has something to do with the range of the idle...

check things like temp sensors and thermostat - stuff like that

my waterpump is crapped out it seems. no coolant and it leaks pretty quickly if i fill it back up which looks slike its coming from the water pump.... could this be the problem? Will Driving it in the cold weather without coolant be really bad for it or can i take it to the dealership to order a new waterpipe and timingbelt?

if the temp sensors are reading values outside normal operating range yes.

we had a car run low enough on coolant it did that

My cars been without cooland for a couple days... but it just started today. Is it ok to drive my car in the cold weather? It stays at perfect temp on the dash.

no, you need to have coolant in it reguardless of what the stupid stock needle says

Mine did the same thing...first thing I'd check is the BISS screw. Replace the oring, and adjust the idle with the screw. Gently bottom the screw out and back it out about 2 turns.

problem being if it's a coolant related problem (which he's saying he HAS a coolant related problem) i would fix that FIRST and see what idle does before you go adjusting the BISS and creating yourself 2 idle problems

i just went outside and theres oil everywhere, its been raining so i cant really get down and see where its coming from but theres a nice river of shiny oily water coming from my car
