Hey you guys am having a problem with the car I just picked up, it's a 1992 Talon TSI AWD. Anyways, on a cold start the idle goes around 3,000rpms and gradually goes down to about 1300rpms. I turned the idle down with the Biss screw and it wants to die out on me. Well, I just figured I would have a high idle for a while, but when i went to get smogged, the tech held the gas to about 2500rms and the rpms were jumping up and down between 2200 and 2700. He told me there was no way id pass smog. So I checked for boost leaks, none were there, no vaccum hoses off. Changed spark plugs. Checked the plugs by pulling them slightly out and listing for the popping noise. I was told it might be the idle speed controller near the throttle body, but a friend checked it and that was not it either. Anyways, Ive run out of ideas, I have the idle around 1200rpms right now, so it wont die out when I come to a stop. The car runs fine, when in gear and moving. By the way, the car is stock and a 5 speed. Anyone have any ideas.
