What colors don't match up? I made my own conversion adapter a few months ago using that page and it worked great. You just have to analyze the info in that document for a bit before you take a stab at it.

Did the previous owner wire up an adapter or just snip the 1g MAF plug and wire up a 2G plug?

And how do you know it's wired up wrong if you don't know the correct wiring?

Also, do you have anything to tune with (Link, or acf?)? You will need something to adjust for the 2g maf.

Not if there are 550cc injectors installed. With those injectors, the computer will still push what it thinks is the same amount of fuel but it will be more to compensate for the extra air from the 2g MAF.

EDIT: If it helps at all, these are the wire colors for my 2g connector that I wired to my 1g MAF plug:

That makes sense, but I did not see larger injectors in his profile, so I assume he will need to do something.

My friend and I used that link recently and the wire colors matched. I'm wondering what the previous owner did.

the wires are just all different colors. and yes my car runs lean. the last guy just snipped the wires and wired them together

i was thinking about wiring up a 1g maf sensor again. previous owner said when it had the 1g sensor it ran fine, but he wired the 2g. and now it runs rough

After looking at the vfaq link, does your connector look wired correctly? If you decide to keep the 2g maf as you have it, do you have 550cc injectors or fuel management ? if you can get ahold of bigger injectors, that could help with the leaner condition, otherwise keeping the 2g maf at the moment is negatively affecting your car. You must be able to compensate for more airflow with more fuel by tuning or injectors for now.

I would do whatever you can to keep the 2g MAF. It may be as simple as just installing 550cc injectors which doesn't cost a whole lot and it's pretty easy.

Do you have a check engine light? If the MAF isn't wired up correctly, you're going to get a check engine light. If there's no light, I'm not convinced the MAF is the issue.

You say none of the colors match up but I don't really believe that. The colors have to match up somewhere, even if it's just the colors of the stock harness. If you can match the stock harness colors, you can then use the VFAQ to figure out how to wire it. Even if the colors on the 2g connector don't match the VFAQ, you can still determine how it should be wired by looking at the colors coming out of the pins.
