i have a may 1990 gsx built for abuse, no a/c no power steering 280 cam built motor 2.0 blow throught gm maft etc, it wont idle and when i accelerate at the throttle body its not responsive it takes sometime to accelerate to how far i open the throttle, i want to remove the FIAV ISC and IAC. has anyone done this on a 1g? what do i have to do? i have no boost leaks car don't idle so that i can set the base timing. at throttle body where BISS screw supposed to go has a regular sheet metal type screw with a vacuum cap over it i bought the car like that. what else should i look for? the car used to idle and run good before the built when it was stock. any ideas? please help

Does it hard start? I had a similar problem and found that I left the coolant temp sensor unplugged. Also, if it IS plugged in, then the sensor might be bad. Just thinkin outloud

so your car would start but no idle? i have a new coolant temp sensor, what are the color for the wiring?

did you do any tuning after having the motor built?

no this is the first couple of times i am starting. i never got it running just finished building it.

You have to make sure the GM MAFT is set to the correct settings. Mine did the same thing an now its runs and idles good.

just finished checking my maft setting and they are all fine but still can't get car to idle it starts right up rpms go up to 4 grand and come down to a stall if i don't depress the ac pedal. this is a fresh built motor base timing is not set. the Biss screw is missing it has a vacuum cap over it, can this be my problem? motor used to run before built with out biss screw. what are my alternatives for throttle body? i don't need FIAV ISC and IAC just basic throttle body and tps. oh and i don't have engine management yet can this be the problem also?
