Idle at 900. Hard time staying Running.

I have a 99 Eclipse Rs. Car starts right up no problem idles at 900 like normal. after about 3-4 min of running the idle on the guage stays the same but the motor it self has a drastic change, and has a hard time running and it sounds like its gasping for air. Also, the car seems like its trying hard to stay running and revs up to 2000 rpm on its own and then goes back down.. When I do drive it, it has a loss of power even with my foot on the throttle, and it decides on its own when it wants to go or strop. Any help would be great THANKS!

check for boost leaks...throttle body gaskets and shaft seals....doin a boost leak test will confirm the throttle body leaks..or any leak for that matter....also make sure you have a working isc.

dont wanna be the a-hole but there are tons of threads relating to this....try a search..

If you read carefully his car is non turbo..!!

I would say to adjust you throttle cable..!!..check you tps, iac, and cleaning up you egr valve..!!

Okay ill try that. Could it be the MAFS? If it was bad the engine would know how much air to add to the motor? also. where is the MAFS? Ive had people tell me and theres nothing where they say it is!

Uh, it could still be a boost leak (because that's synonymous with a vacuum leak around here).

Is there a way to test the IAC? also. when I put the new IAC in my car idles at 2500 and sounds miserable! The Paper that came with the new IAC says thats their is a reset process, that i have to drive with the high idle for the computer to reconize the new IAC. Is it an issure to drive a car with such a high idle RPM?

I had the EXACT same problem with my GS-T. I replaced the ISC and now it runs perfect!

I replaced it but now my car idles at 2500 rpm and sounds like theres a massive air leak! And i cant find any bad hoses...

So, once again, do a boost/vacuum leak test.

NO leak. Front o2 sensor was bad.
