Hey guys, i've got a 90 AWD that i installed a NOS Direct port setup on. This is my first time ever playing with this stuff, and this is my first install so i really don't know much about nos in a turbo vehicle. the story is, i wrecked my galant and couldn't find another body to put my motor into, so i decided to go with a DSM. I've had the car running for the last year and when i dropped the engine into the car, i decided to add nitrous. The bottle is mounted, the lines have been run and i've got the foggers in place. the only thing i dont have setup is the power for the fuel and nitrous soleniods. My delima is, that i don't want to deal with having to push button with my setup if im trying to drag the car. shifing, watching rpms, pushing a button and trying to keep the car straight is too much to do while driving!!

This is what i have setup... I have a TMO chip in my ecu so i have the dual stage rev limiter on my car for launching and shifting... so when im going down the strip, i never let up on the throttle so i dont lose boost. i have a full throttle swich, and an msd window switch that are sitting on the side... but i want to setup the car so that the nitrous engages and disengages on its own... within a set of parameters... that are safe. in a sense, under full throttle, have nitrous turn on at 4 or 5k but shut off between shifts. is there some type of switch that i can tie into that is actuated by the clutch, so i can still launch and not have to worry about the nitrous engaging while the engine is not under load...???

anyway, any help or advice would be helpfull. im running an 18g with about 18psi and i've got 680cc injectors controlled by and AFC. btw what timing do you guys sugest i run, heat range of plugs... and ohh... im running a "rich 88 shot" in my setup. Here is a pic of my first install... what do you guys think???

thanks, Ray

you could set a switch on the throttle so that when you press the gas far enough it activates it

Clutch cutoff switch --> MSD Window switch --> WOT switch --> Nitrous solenoid.

in response to the clutch cutoff... i know that there are two switches associated with the clutch one for the criuse control and the other for starting the car. does anyone know what wire or wires on which switch, will create a closed or open loop circuit and what position on the pedal that occurs at??

yeah i've seen people with nitrous and they use a sensor that comes with NOS kits that at WOT it activates...i think that woudl be the best because u dont have to take your hands off the wheel or look away from the road

I would like to know what jet sizes you are using as I was off the charts rich with the smallest fuel jet 14 and a 26 nitrous which equates to a 125shot. So I upped the nitrous to lean it out and with 28nitrous same fuel jet I run 11.6-11.8 afr and that is about a 150shot, which is more than Im comfortable with.

As far as activating the nitrous, you may want to add a hobbs pressure switch in. It would be a pain having all these switches but at the track on a 2step launch the nitrous would start spraying before you are rolling if you use a toggle/window/wideopen throttle switch setup, unless you set your window switch 100rpm after your launch rpm.
With a Hobbs you can in addition to be wide open throttle and within an rpm window have the nitrous turn on at a set psi. You could set it to a couple psi above whatever you reach at launch rpm.

As far as spark plugs I run NGK BPR8s and have gapped as high as .028 with no blowout. With the COP setup I run them at .032.

With timing 18degrees is pretty decent but I like to get as much as I can on 110 octane, I was getting about 22degrees when my headgasket blew. I dont know if the timing/150shot is to blame or the fact that my block was never decked when I built the motor.
