I have an ebay strut bar in my engine bay that connects both struts with a single bar. I just came accross a few DSMs that have caught fire after the batterys positive post touches the strut bar.

I need ideas to cover this part of the start bar to prevent any fires

im not as creative as most so please share any ideas you have or maybe there is some one that has a real fix for this.

Yeah convert your top post terminals to a side post; which also means you will have to get a side post battery as well. That would be the best solution. Other then that it would be to relocate your current battery to the back.

The proper strut bar should be manufactured so it stays away from the positive terminal.

Either drop the battery lower, convert to a side post, or get a solid terminal cover.

You might be able to flip the bar the other way and be closer to the negative terminal.
You could make a simple flat steel plate to replace the stamped steel battery shelf. It would drop the battery maybe a 1/2" lower. If your strapped for cash that would be pretty cheap. A 12" square of plate steel would be cheap or maybe even free if you look around.

Thanks guys haha, I wish I could get more pictures but so much has changed on my car and it's still in the middle of a build.

Anyways I used black electrical tape to make everything fit snug and I also recessed the underside of the hose so I could slip it over the connection. It actually looked really good.
