This is my first post so be easy on me. I have a 96 gs-t and i bought intercooler piping for it in november and every now and then the pipping will pop off (out of the silicone coupling and pipe clamps that hold it). It happens every couple weeks and it gets really really annoying cause i have to usually new get clamps and i get serious leakage. And it seems that the pipping keeps slidding off from the silicone hose couplings. Are there any types of super duty clamps that don't come apart or are there any super grip couplings that i can use to make sure that this doesn't happen again? Thanks in advance!

What kind of piping is it? Is it beaded or straight at the ends? Does the coupling slide on too easy? Where does it pop off from? If might have some ideas. Pics will really help.

I would highly suggest getting them beaded. It's cheap to do or have done. That will almost 100% solve your problem. Maybe clean the inside of the couplers too cause they may have a little oil in them.

Its straight pipping....My car is in the shop right now getting a tranny rebuild so i can't get pics. But it usually pops off where its connected to the intercooler or where the elbow meets the pipe that has BOV on it. I'll try to get pics. And is beading just getting aluminum beads put on the end of the pipes so that the clamp can't go past it?
thanks!!!!!

You can have a bead welded on or press rolled on to the piping. You can also flare the ends of the pipes out about an 1/8", which is what I do and it holds strong. People have also recomended hair spray. I've used double clamps on straight pipes. Just make sure that one of the clamps is right on the end of the pipe. So it's kind of like one clamp to hold the coupling and one clamp to keep air from lifting it and seperating it. Does that make sense? As far as what to do at the intercooler, I assume it is stock and still has the beads so maybe step down the diameter of the coupling. What is the inner diameter of the silicone hose here? I can try and post some pics later tonight after work if you need them.

i had this problem for a day.... the elbow from the intake manifold to upper ic piping slipped off once, cleaned pipe, double clamped it, havent had a problem since.... (2months) and when i did this, just to avoid any problems, i double clamped any other thing i could fit 2 clamps on (radiator, all ic piping, intake to turbo, etc) and when i couldnt, i ziptied + single clamped (pcv valve, breather valve, breather hoses, etc...) better safe than sorry :thumb:
