IC piping and exhaust question and advice???

i am going to my dads friends exhaust shop to have him custom build my exhaust and i am also gonna have him make me the upper and lower intercooler pipes.. my plan was to just take out my upper intercooler and lower pipes w/flange for TB and tell him i need a hard pipe shaped just like this and have him weld the BOV flange on it so i can put my BOV back on...

my question is how much bigger should i go with the intercooler piping like 2 inch, 2.5, 3 inch? what would be the best for me without having to do any tuning or anything just plug n play. and also the same question for the exhaust.... should i go 2.5, 3 inch?

my plans are IC piping, downpipe, custom exhaust, BCS mod, MAF mod, boost controller, air/fuel gauge, boost gauge, and a dejon hard intake pipe with K&N filter,,,, i do not plan on getting a logger or DSMlink ect.

its the dailly, not trying to beef it up to much but want it to be kinda quick

2.5 intercooler piping will mate with most aftermarket intercooler inlet and outlets if you were to keep that routing, 3" exhaust as well would be a good investment now aswell, will keep you from upgrading twice.

Most of the aftermarket pipe size for the UICP,LICP runs 2.25". and for the exhaust, I
would go 2.5" from the O2 housing to the teh flex pipe then 3" to cat, and after the cat go 3". If you decide to go FMIC later, or bigger turbo later. You will be set.

2.5" pipes work for the intercooler pipes, the aftermarket UCIP,LICP used to run 2.25". One or the other should be fine.

can somebody post a pic of the o2 housing and flex pipe so i can know what the peices are?...or a link with these pictures?

i also wanted to ask, im about to buy this intake hardpipe Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-94 Turbo Air Intake System:eBay Motors (item 230362531746 end time Aug-09-09 15:40:37 PDT)


it (just like all of them i find) doesnt have the two lines that come out.. it just has the one port for the BOV recirculation.... i know that the one line that goes to to valve cover is a breather and i can put a lil filter breather on the valve cover.... what about the other line...where does it go and can i just plug it off...what would i need to do?

Id go with 3in exhaust for quicker spool and 2.5in intercooler piping JOEY!!!!

I would go 3'' IC piping and 3'' exhaust. You know your gonna upgrade everything anyway. When i first bought my tSi i said i wouldnt drop a dime into it but now im rocking 400whp and happy as shiiit! this sport is so much fun.

If you're sticking with the stock IC than you should use nothing over 1.25" IC pipes. For the exuast if you're keeping the 14b you should get a aftermarket o2 housing, then have a custom 3" downpipe with flex section made. Do 3" exuast all the way, you won't be sorry.

3in piping will slow spool down! Smaller intercooler piping helps spool quicker!!!
