Allright I have a 94 talon tsi. I just got it about a month ago and I started noticing it reaked of fuel not to long ago. If i turn the cabin air control nob ( farthest right) to the left I can smell fuel when i stop at a light. It goes away once i get going. Turn the nob to the left and I never smell it. Once I arrive at my destination the car reaks of fuel bad. When you pop the hood you can't see fuel leaking but you can smell it. Around the injectors small pools of fuel usually collect in the divits of the intake manifold. No injector seems excesively wet nor does the fuel rail. So im sorta stumped. My theory is I have a bad o ring on one of the injectors. Any help would be great thanks

This seems like one of those questions where the quickest solution might be to pull the car into the garage, open the hood, and jumper the fuel pump check connector to 12v, and watch to see where the fuel is coming from. If you have a pinched or torn o-ring on the injector in the fuel rail you'll see the fuel leaking.

And do a boost leak test. I would smell fuel under boost so I did a leak test and the #1 injector was leaking bad at the head. Fixed it and no more fuel smell/leak under boost.

The safest thing might be to just replace the insulators (the part that goes in the head) and the o-rings on all of them just to be sure. I didn't suggest this to start because it's always possible that the fittings on the fuel rail are the leak source.

When the engine was finished on my car, I put all new insulators, rubber spacers, and o-rings in for the fuel rail and injectors. 6 months later, I did the boost leak and that's when I found the #1 injector leaking. I then bought all new insulators, rubber spacers, and o-rings again and still had the same problem. I cut one of the extra rubber spacers in half and added that to the #1 rubber spacer (allowing the fuel rail to push the injector against the head). This fixed the leak.

Maybe you're running rich and you have an exhaust leak which is being blown towards the cockpit when the cooling fans come on. Just another idea because it happened to me.

Im not running rich because its freazing cold here and the car barely warms up let alone kick the fans on. Boost leak test sounds good. How do I do that? and were would i get the o-rings and such besides an expensive dealership? thanks
