alright i need some help people
No brake lights, no reverse lights, no interior lights.. i'm tired of getting pulled over and i've already replaced the bulbs, the brake light switch and i've checked behind the radio for shorts in the wires, but i have found nothing, someone please help me

it just all the sudden stopped.. well my brake and reverse lights... the dash cluster and interior lights were my fault, i was wiring up the cd deck and i accidentally touched the illumination wire and the dimmer wire and thats when i shorted out my interior lights.. but my brake and reverse lights just randomly stopped working, its not bulbs, not fuses, not brake light switch, and not sockets

Check your fuses and brake sensor itself above the brake pedal, for the reverse light if not fuses then could be the sensor on the tranny itself, if it's not in all the way, it won't turn on when you're on reverse. Test light check all your lighting wires too. Or better yet, check the voltage each wire is recieveing.

its a 5 speed man, it doesn't have that switch in the tranny, and i've checked everything, i don't know where it its at, i can't find the short at all and i'm tired of tearing it apart and not having enough time to do it then put it back together and then do it all over again

Maybe a bad ground, loose wire it coul be anything your best bet is to redo it, that maybe the only way to figure it out. Wiring is one of those things been there had to get another harness because mine was so jacked up.

I think autozone sells a relay that you can rerun wires to for all of your light needs. Ill try and gget a pixture of what im talking about

I would start by looking to see what wiring those lights have in common. Like previously stated about the ground. They could share a ground, or they could share the same power source.

I would suggest going and getting a service manual for the car if you don't already have one. A chilton or haynes. They aren't 100% all the time but the chilton does have the wiring diagram you need to start tracing down your problem.

As far as looking for "shorts" you most likely have an open if its the wiring or the trans range sensor has failed. You could start by seeing if you have power to the sockets and if you don't you know that the issue is before that and if you do, well then you a ground issue.

My reverse lights are sporadic at best, I've found that untill I actually have the time to chase the problem down that if I take it out of gear and then put it in reverse again it tends to work, sometime have to do it several times.

See if your reverse lights may be the same way, if so then there's part of your problem temp fixed... as far as the whole not having any brake lights goes, I would check all the relays under the hood, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong here guys) that there are 2 items under the hood, a rather large style fuse and a relay.

what do u guys think about the shift box for an automatic transmission

and also are the 2g awd automatic transmission wire harness and body harness the same as a 5 speed
?

or should i just stick with the automatic transmission ? is it worth a swap ?

This thread is about lighting not working, not about the shift box, or swapping trannies..But I'll tell you my opinion anyway..The shift box is freaking awsome for the auto guy's..I run the home made box myself because I'm cheap..But if you have the 150$ get the shift box..Also with the shift box, there is an option to turn it off and let the tranny shift itself.. I see your post was already deleted, and I'm sure this one will be too..
