Get the Grand Prix.. IMO, they look better... and EVERYONE and their mom has a Grand Am.. there are already too many of them out there. Next time your out driving you will see what I mean. 4 of my friends have them, well 3 now, one traded hers for a GSX ahhhh...

why have you limited yourself to pontiac?????? do some research, pontiac has never had that great of a track record especially the grand series, they use too much plastic IMO, if you are using it to get to school I would opt for better fuel economy rather than personal preference subaru impreza 2.5 rs mid to late 90's should be in the same price range and be a much more enjoyable car not to mention all wheel drive....IMHO pontiac doesnt compete nowadays consider what will logically fit your needs.

Get a sonoma or s10. I just bought a 95 sonoma and it runs great and is good on gas(4cyl.). Im using this is my daily driver. I can not see a con to having a truck that is good on gas. Yeah you cant tow anything really but you can move some stuff. Since getting the truck I lowered it and put some 17s on it. I plan on painting and making it look a little better but other than that its staying stock. I say get a lil truck cause then you wont be driving around a grandmas car and its not an import

. I get around 16 MPG in stop and go traffic with some occasional power testing . And on the highway i get :drumroll: 25 MPG!!! i would have never even dreamed of getting that with my eclipse. All in all i love my new car but will always love DSMs.

OK here is my take on this whole thing. I originally wanted to get a DSM, but I decided I need something reliable and good on gas to get me to school until I have more money. So im looking at older (1990-93) accords. Here are some reason's to go with a honda or even toyota over that GM:

1. Fuel economy - the accord will get around 28MPG on highway.
2. Insurance - Honda insurance is dirt cheap!
3. Hold value - My mom has a 99 accord ex, probably costed the same as the grand prix (maybe less). Cars that are similar to hers (99 EXs with higher mileage then hers) go for $11K every day. So buying that GM isn't a good investment at all.
4. Reliability - My mom (haha shes a great example for everything) drove a 1986 civic EVERY DAY for 10 years to work (from 86 to 96), and the ONLY problem she had with it was the A/C malfunctioned in 94 and she got it recharged and all was well for the last 2 years. She then traded it in for $2.5K and bought an 96 accord, which also was a great car . If that doesn't prove reliabilty, I don't know what does. I also have many other stories like that, along with a share of GM horror stories...hey im not trying to be bias but it is what it is...

Anyway I noticed that you bought it already, all I can say is good luck with it, all that matters is that you enjoy your new ride . But that gas must be a killer, 16MPG? My dads truck (V6 tacoma) does better than that, you might wanna do a tune-up and work on your driving style . Sounds like a nice ride though, once again good luck with it!

Im tired of people bashing my car. I love my new car more than I ever did my eclipse, and in reality it is just as fast becuase my eclipse was a POS hardore style. Transmission was messed up, engine ran like crap and was tired of shelling out cash for repairs. Im getting better gas mileage on my GP now. I think i had crap gas from the lot i bought it from. I filled up my tank yesterday and reset the MPG guage and put it on cruise going 46 and i got 32 Miles per ####ing gallon. I drove about 75 miles and average about 28 mpg with stop and go traffic plus some highway. So stop hating or ill have a mod shut this down. GM makes SOME good cars. Yeah their performance cars can leave something to be desired of, but I did not buy the GP for performance. I bought it for looks and comfort. Im tired of having worn shocks, missing OD on the transmission (especially when your GF lives in the next town over and lives off the highway), awful seats, and smells. So stop hating or ill have a mod shut this down.

hey ... um this is a dsm forum , I had a grand am ( as a shitbox winter car) and I will never buy another pontiac onless it says GTO on it. Pontiac is CRAP ok, that's my opinion , that's why I post it here, like others did . I like Mazda , BMW and porche 944's, some people don't. You think you've made the best choice by buying Pontiac , Good for you . But Some People dislike them and think they're CRAP , Live with it
