i bought a greddy bov with it mounted on hard pipe, so i installed it tonight. i started my car it ran just fine. i drove one block and hit this gas pretty good and started to go pretty good then jerked and started idling horribly. i had to turn around cuz it wanted to die. can it idle that bad from a from a boost leak??

did u unplug any sensors like the maf. bov are suppost to vent back into the intake, your cars is probably doing that because you are just letting it vent in to the atmoshpere. thats what i think it is. get some other opinions. :thumb:

sounds like you blew something off. did you use RTV sealent on the bov gaskets and not let it dry overnight? cause once you hit high boost that stuff wouldve just blown out and left quite a nice gap where it used to be.

how about checking any of the couplers for the intakes, cause those have a tendency to loosen or blow off completely, leaving a huge boost leak.

A boost leak wouldn't make the car idle horrible though, even if the sealant on the bov wasn't dry or even a vacuum line popped off it shouldn't run crappy. there would just be a boost leak, lack of horsepower would be the out come. let me know what it is extacly, i would like to know.

well my greddy did that once when i was adjusting the screw and tuning it to the right spot make sure you adjust the screw right.

Have you adjusted it to open when it should? To soft on the adjustment screw and it will open to easily.

Check for boost leaks. If they are bad enough the idle quality will suffer. If you try to boost you will probably hit fuel cut too with the elevated airflow readings from the overworking turbo.

I had a general question about leaking, and leak tests with the bov's. I searched and ended up in this thread. Is the bov suppose to leak, from the actual return tube when performing a leak test, my greddy type S leaks at 10 psi or so, and two other 2G stocks also leak like at 5. I pressurize the system and i leave the nipple connected on the 2G stock and the top nipple on the greddy. At around 5 psi they start to leak. Is this suppose to happen? Thanks

no the greddy unit should hold 30+ psi from what ive heard without leaking. maybe you should tighten the adjustment screw a little. and the stock 2g bov's leak anything above 10-12psi and are also leaking at idle, thus the inability to vent them.

Neither should leak like that. With the Greddy it may just be a matter of adjusting it correctly but it may be damaged. Take the hat off of the top and inspect the rubber diaphram.

Yeah the greddy i adjusted the screw, loose and tight, i even tighten it all the way, still leaked. So im guessing is messed up. Thanks
