I just bought a 14b of this guy and this part was sitting in the box. What is it?

that looks to be a lower rad hose with an inline heater in it. I just installed one and it looks very similar.


but the extra line comming off it makes me think bov.

I dunno what it is but im sure its not a BOV....thats a realy small UICP diameter. also theres no hole on the bottom where it would mount on....

It's what shuts off the hot water through the heater core on some more-primative vehicles. DSMs are full-flow, and use a door to divert the air through or around the core.

how are those bovs, do they compare closly to a 1g bov?

ottoman thanks alot. Im peicing a kit together and that was just kind of thrown in with the turbo so i guess i'll use it. Does it do the job compared to a 1g bov? Also have you vented it at all?

If it were the hot tip for DSMs, you'd hear everyone running to get one, instead of just a 1G BOV.

actually ya it's a great BOV

considering it was holding a 7m turbo which is a massive T4

it's a denso unit.. all metall

it's held above 20psi so far during my leak test... the tester pipe blew off first


i think the reason the 1G is more popular is because of it's availability... and the way it mounts...

since i was makin custom pipes.. taping into it was no problem for me...

but if u have a Stock 2g UIC.. it would be a PITA to use this BOV...

I've vented it and re-circulated it..

even if re-circulated.. it's HELLA loud... especially in the cockpit... (i love a loud bov.. but this was is loud enough re-circulated that i don't need the headaches of venting and boggin etc.. it's great)
