Problem #1

Short Short Version Story behind problem #1
-Bought Car
-Took Car in 4 times to dealership to be repaired
-1st Time b/c car was screeching when starting cold and tech sprayed belt on belt dressing
-2nd Time b/c belt that was sprayed by tech FELL OFF THE ALTERNATOR PULLEY and the dealer sales guy came out and cut the belt and made me drive the car back to the dealership which is about a mile away with out the belt on. :thumbdown But I made it fine
Dealership put a new belt on and said it was fine
-3rd Time belt fell off again and I made them tow it to the dealership and AFTER 2 Techs looked at it, they said they don't know whats wrong with the car and just tightened everything up and said it was fine
-4th Time I took the car to another branch of the dealership because they specialize in selling :dsm: cars and suv's. Go figure, they knew what the problem was and fixed or so I thought. They said it was the crankshaft pulley and they replaced it

-So far it's been several weeks since I last took the car in and now the car is starting to sqeak when I start it cold and feels like the is skips a beat or something. Can't really explain it but makes one big vibration when I accelerate the car from cold but doesn't do it again after that.
What do I do?

Problem 2

How do I adjust the headlights to the correct position?

Problem 3

Sounds like exhaust pipe is rattling underneath the car (where else would it rattle) but is there anything I should be aware before I go and just start tighting things underneath the car?

Thanx

i'm not quite sure what to say about problem 1, however i can help you w/problems 2 and 3.

prob 2: the headlights have two knobs each on the back of them (under the hood, that is) which adjust the lights different directions. on my lights i've only had to use the one that tilts the whole assembly up and down, so i'm not sure what the other knob does - maybe controlling the left and right adjustments?

prob 3: i had the same problem after i caught some air off a hill after having the car for like 3 days. the heat shield on the exhaust had come loose (it was about in the middle of the car) and was laying on top of the pipe rattlin away. i just took it off and decided not to worry about it. i haven't had any problems with the heatshield gone, but don't hold me accountable for nething that goes wrong if you do it, i'm just sayin.

I did do a search for the adjusting the lights at DSMtuners.com but I didn't find anything relevant to my question. I suppose I could've googled it. Then again, I don't know you that well (but beginning to) but the thought of anyone waking up in puddle was enough to make me  hysterically. So it was worth it. Thanx fo the tips from both of y'all.

1) Harmonic balancer.

When harmonic balancer (crank pulley) becomes seperated, It will move in and out especially during the initial start. The motion of in and out sometimes causes the belt to skip a tooth or come off completely. Pop the hood and look at the crank pulley to see if it moves while someone else crank the car. If you don't, you prolly will soon, it gets worse with time.

My down pipe was rattling against my aftermarket sway bar everytime the down pipe flexes because there were only 1/2" of clearance. It's prolly the heatshield though.

Don't say "tooth". Let's stick with "groove". The balancer probably won't get to the toothed timing belt.

I'm not to sure about that... I replaced my crank pulley in my 2g in about an hour, just had to remove the three belts and take off a plastic shroud...???

You don't need to remove the engine, you should shoot whoever told you that. Jack up the driverside, remove the wheel, remove splash guard and it's right there. Change the ps belt too, it's probably worn out.

the belts are brand new the one just got eaten to shit though from jumping around in there when the pulley flew off... where do i go to get a new pulley or the parts to mount it again

Doesn't really make the squeeking noise anymore. I think it just does it when it is really really cold outside. Now it makes kind of a chugga chugga sound when in idle. I'm going outside right now and fixing my light issue.
