I have a 7 bolt swap question

Searched and all I see is 6 bolt swap questions. So I have a built 7 bolt. Evo 3 turbo with intake manifold, new crank eagle h rods, 8:5:1 pistons head is stock and I was wondering if I can swap that motor in a 90 gst, mine is coming out of a 95 gst. And if I can what do I need to do to make it work, should I use the 90 gst's ecu or the chipped 95 ecu that I have?

Whats wrong with the 2g? Its alot of work putting a 7 bolt in a 1g. There are no threaded holes to bolt the the block to the side motor mounts, you will have to get some kind of simulated crank signal to use the 2g CAS, you would need to make a custom tubular cross member to mount the front and rear mounts, Its alot of money to put into a silly swap rather than putting that money into some upgrades to make your 2g nicer.

damnit, cause my 2g is just a mess. then why is it so easy to swap a 6 bolt into a 2g?

putting a 2g motor in a 1g requires some work. the motor mounts are in different places, so youd have to custom build some mounts. and id use the 2g ecu and wiring harness.

and in 1st gens there are both 6 bolts (90-92) and 7 bolts (93-94) so thats probably where you see a lot of 6 bolt 7 bolt swaps.

Who said it was "easy" to do a 6bolt swap? Lol..Yes, it can be done with fab work an electrical nightmare. I am not going to tell you what to do, but take you time and clean up your 2g. Thats half the fun, cleaning and tucking everything

i'd rewire and use the 2g ecu. your 7 bolt is gonna need the crank position sensor readings in order to run, period. but even still, it's an awful lot of headache...

Damn, I was hoping it wouldn't be this hard. Well I think I'm going to pick up this 96 fwd tsi and throw my motor in there

sounds like a MUCH better idea. although, you can't deny that a 7 bolt swap into a 1g would be unique...
