I Get 89 Octane for Free! How to Run in 4g63t?

I ran 87 on my built 6bolt GSX for about a year with no problem. Yes, the computer would pull back timing when boost came in but it never hurt the car. I even got tuned on 87 at one point, i was getting like 28-35 mpg all day but only making like 160hp. Needless to say, the car will run fine and dandy as long as you stay out of boost. Also dont be expecting any power.

I'm basically asking to see if I can run the free gas if/when I buy a turbocharged 4g 2g.

You can but you wont make much power. Its almost as useless as tits on a bull but it will get you from place to place. Why buy a turbo car that you cant boost in because of using a lower octane rated fuel :hmm:. You dont. Keep driving your Non turbo and use that as your gas sipper and just buy decent fuel for your turbo model. Sound good? A:thumb:

O btw the factory ECU has a min and max octane table so if you do decide to run crappy fuel it will know from the 02 sensor and cut back timing and all that happy stuff.

I sometimes run 89 in the 1G DD.

I pull some timing on my map, but its actually not bad, considering that I do washer fluid/meth injection.

The fuel I use also has up to 10% ethanol.

Kyle, there are some Petro Canada's with dedicated 94 Oct nozzles, you just got to find them. Who needs e85 though when you can just mix in some 100LL that you can buy from any small airport.

So, theoretically I should be safe running 89 then? I have a stock 6bolt with a 16g, bc 272 cams and springs&retainers and otherwise stock head. 950cc fics/255lph pump.

I have it at 10-12psi, lowest I can go, tuned on DSMLink with damn near no timing - like 9-10 degrees in boost from 3500-5500 (rev limit set at 5500). Just have it set up this way because all it is is a DD right now and it keeps me from beating on it since I'm 3 hours away from home for college and need to keep it reliable.

So I should be fine doing 89? It's only 2.92 here for 89 vs 3.41 here for 93. I never beat on it here, most it might see is like 2psi getting on the highway.

Where would these small airports be? I dont think ive seen a dedicated 94 nozzle yet. I'm a fan of c16 though.
