18 ft-lbs + a 90-100 degree turn on stock main studs for 2g? how do I do that? I feel like an idiot right now.. sorry..

This is how you "preload" the studs. You set the torque to 18lbs and once you reach that while tightening you will reference where the arm of the torque wrench is and then go another 90 to 100 degrees. So the arm is at 12:00 and you will continue to turn to 3:00 , "90deg". The bolt is allowed an amount of stretch, if a bolt is tightened too much, it can be yielded, and if not tightened enough it can lead to joint separation.

Also if you are reusing the bolts odds are the designed stretch length will no longer apply and you run the risk of failure.

Thanks for the reply, and yes this is my first attemt to do a rebuild. Thanks for the help.. I am reusing main bolts and evo8 rod bolt aswell, I read that I can re-use them. But I am using new ARP head stud.

The factory head bolts are designed to stretch thus the special tightening proceedure. Many ARP head bolts do not stretch hardly at all (they're typically used in higher hp applications) and so the tighting proceedure is different (usually 3 steps of specific torques and then recheck after engine has warmed up - but none of the 90-100* stuff). So you should check the tightening proceedure that came with them.
