This is what i noticed after i took off the manifold. i said to myself that doesnt look good. i was thinkin it might be a bad piston ring or something. so does anyone know what the problem is that is causing this build-up of oil or sludge in this one exhaust port???

I would say bad valve stem seals. Have you done a compression check? Does it smoke at all? Let us know and hope that I helped, Keith.

well as far as the mods... i havent upgraded anything or done anything to the fuel management yet. im kind of tight on money so im doing things myself with spending as little money as possible. all the studs for this manifold needed to be replaced because there was about 4 or 5 of them broke off so i had to get them out and i just installed the SBR SS one's.

i do have a compression check kit in my trunk. i was planning on using it. i guess now would be the time. and ill let you know about the results.

but for the valve stem seals or what you said. where should i get those and how do i replace them? i have a Haynes Repair Manual to also help. what do you suggest?

from what your telling us and what i see are to different things white smoke is difently a head gasket do a compression check the if everything is good to change valve seals

get an air tank and maybe a friend it always helps
well pull a spark plug u will just need to use the treads
go to the parts store and get an END for the air hose the ones that clip in
take a saw and cut the air hose end peaces i wish i knew what it was called in half
stick the plug in where u cut the air hose end it should go right into the hole
then sodder the two together
screw the peace back into the head and charge with air
get a valve spring tool and go to atuo zone and get the seals too
then that is it really if you dont know what to do from this point let me know

If you're running synthetic oil that could be the cause of your white smoke. For some reason synthetic oil will burn white. I would do a compression check. You could also do a vacuum check. If the vacuum isn't steady, it could indicate ring or piston problems.
