heater

This little guy has kept me alive lately... cheaper than using the gas furnace and essential for when the lady comes to visit.

I relly dont see that heating my 1000 sq/ft garage, much less my 1800 sq/ft home. It may do good in a 150sq/ft room if the air temp is alredy above 55*.

Personally, I use a 45,000 btu coleman propane heater to heat the garage and then it becomes backup heat for the house when the electric goes out. The best part is it runs off of the easily available propane tanks for gas grills. I dont think coleman makes them anymore but home depot usually keeps some similar in stock, They arent listed on the online store so you have to go shopping to find them.

I use one of those Remington multi-fuel blower heater dealies for the garage and back-up heat for the house.

shit dude, i just got done spending a week in Ft. McCoy WI in a tent, it was -20 outside at times.

The best thing you can do is dress in the least amount of clothing possible outside, get used to the temperature, and freeze you butt off, then go inside and it will feel better. At night when you sleep, wear the least amount of clothing possible and use the least blankets, you get used to the cold you will be fine, and save money on energy cost!!!

That's fun and all if you've got a warm place to go back into. If you're trying to stay warm for long periods of time with no heat, lots of layers of clothing is better.

Another trick is from our mountain climbing friends, washing hands with cold water dilates the blood vessels keeping blood flowing throw your hands thereby keeping them warmer. Keeps your fingers working longer in the cold too. If you want to go all out like the climbers, take an ice bath (tub full of water+two bags of ice), just keep an eye on your body temp, if it falls more than a few degrees, get out of the water and dry off.

Yeah, you can't heat your million square foot garage with it. I use it to keep my room warm.

I'd hope the guys here wouldn't have to be told, but be careful of any heaters that burn. Not the fire hazard, but carbon monoxide.
You go to sleep and dream that you never wake up. And, it comes true.

A good friend of mine died that way. He was into classic cars, was a car show with another friend and for some reason decided to sleep in the car trailer with a small propane heater. Went to sleep and never woke up.

It was -10 yesterday in ND and i put duct tape round my windows and it worked great. ND is very cold and we have figured insulation, duct tape, and weatherstripping are very important. -20 wind chill is regular round here so i know what I'm talking about.:laser:

I spent a week in the field sleeping in a tent that was just around freezing temperatures, We where essentially chilling out in there with our T shirts and ACU pants on. Your body as to acclimatize to the cold. wearing a few less layers and getting used to the cold will pay off.
