So after buying this 3G v6 eclipse I had to drive in a bad rain storm and I hit a puddle and the motor started to bog down but I was able to keep it running I red lined it and ran good then hit another puddle this time shutting the car down I'm not use to a intake down that low I pulled the intake off a large ammount of water came outta the intake then removed the plugs and make my own vacc system and sucked bout 16 oz of water total out of 6 clynders... Motor still won't turn over even attempt to what so ever and I can't seem to turn this motor by hand nor.. how would I go about getting this car going there is no water at all on the combustion chambers at all and still won't turn over any clues ?? What path should I take now 3.0 v6 2001 eclipse no upgrades 5spd

I been reading bout it I really hope the rod isn't bent fr..... But my dip stick is damn sure milky I was low on oil before hand now is way above the full line is it possible the water in the oil pan is preventing the positions to go down ?

It's very possible you need a full rebuild, however I would start by taking off the heads and see if there's a piston out of place then try turning the motor by hand. If you still can't then your probably going to have to pull your crank shaft out as well as your pistons and check that. Only other route I could think of taking is drop your oil pan and try turning it by hand. There may be water sitting in the pan as well and then you can also check for bent rod if you can get a. Decent angle at it. Otherwise try pop starting it with the heads still on and see if you can free it up. ( pop starting it's a little risky, if you go this route change your oil first. Might have water in it.)

I agree with what your saying but what would be the best way to figure out what's wrong with out taken major parts off.. pull the oil pan examine the rods from the bottom and change the oil and try push starting it you mean ?

I would drain the oil and go from there. If your dipstick is showing a high milky mix, then it's possible water made it down into the crank case. If the crank case is too full it can prevent the pistons from going down.

Just one more thing to check before you really start tearing into it.

if your motor won't turn over, its like dsmcrzy said, you most likely have a bent rod.

those motors always have problems with the timing belt tensioner going bad. make sure and put a new one on if you rebuild or get a used motor.

I would definitely drain the oil and check it, then proceed to pull the pan if possible. If enough water got into the cylinder it could really get messy mechanical wise, water doesn't compress like air does.

I would drain the oil first and go from there.. if it too full it can prevent the pistons from going down.
Can you elaborate here please?
OP if the motor won't turn over right after this my opinion is bent valves or rod or both. Will the crank not move at all? Did you skip a timing belt during this process?

You could maybe try draining oil and filling cylinders with marvel mystery oil. Let it sit at least overnight and see if it gets things moving by hand cranking. This is assuming nothing is mechanically damaged, ie. Valves, rods, etc.

It's an old hotrodder trick for seized engines.

Milky oil is definately not good though.

If there's too much pressure inside the oil pan it could prevent the pistons from moving up and down. Drain it and then drop the pan. Try turning it slowly by hand to completely drain all the water out. Then put the pan and plug back in and add new oil.

Alright SOOOOO up date people first off the previous owner f***ed up the oil drain plug bad... Could not even get it out so I had to undo the bottom part of the oil pan unlike the 420a it has like a 2 part oil pan but any ways the oil looked straight up like chocolate milk :(..... No other way to describe it at all. Very thin and very brown.. I only had 2 qts of oil in the engine when I got it but drained over 5qts.. bad very bad at that ... But tried to crank it by hand didn't try much effort but couldn't turn it by hand... Noticed there was small slivers of aluminum or metal something along them lines not much like a bearing provides but there was bout 5 or 6 slivers maybe 1/4 or smaller slivers in the oil pan.. I can see all my intake valves they seem to be fine but I havnt broken into the second part of the oil pan yet due to the ammount of work I have to do but I'm fearing for the worst and that's a bent rod.. when I noticed the locking happening I red lined it a few times put it into gear for it to move then died I cranked it again after it struggling to crank but finally did I red lined it again got it to move more then fianlky died off and now it won't start .. if that clears everything up ...

Not sounding good. I'd say you'll have to dig into the motor to find out what is damaged. Others may have different suggestions?

What did you mean by the statement "I only had 2 qts of oil in the engine when I got it"?
Oil capacity should be like 4.5 qts.

Just out curiosity but whyy would you floor it after going through a puddle? You do realize your intake is sucking in air, the higher the RPM, the more air sucking thus sucking in all the water. Either way, sounds like you're going to need a new shortblock, not sure how much you value the car but 3g's are pretty much everywhere in junkyards now, good luck.

Honestly I don't care much bout this car it was only 400$ I just got it till my turbo engine is done I can sell th hge car with the blow engine right now for 300$ easy money isn't a issue I never worked on a v6 so I'm kinda curious what it's like I may just rip this one apart and see what it's like I did the same to my turbo one and now it's fully build and I floored it thinking the water would shoot out not realizing the road I was on was flooded like I said I'm not use to a car not being able to go in half a foot of water my turbo eclipse can go thru water no problem if needed

Is this car auto or manual? I ask because of a trick I used to un seize a motor before. What I did was change the oil and then push it down the street with a friend and drop the clutch in 1st it jarred the car kinda hard but it fired right up and ran pretty well after that. It didnt seem to have gotten mechanical damage and I have no idea why it seized we sold it about two weeks after that, guy drove it for years.

The marvel mystery oil trick is definitely good to try I have heard good things about it.

Edit: just re-read your op and it says 5sp.. if the engine is hosed anyway you might as well try it.

Even after reading what was said u think it's still worth doing or not. Someone told me last night to have a truck pull me and pop it in 3rd gear not 1st . When I put the oil in should I put that oil in after or before I put the oil pan on ? And how much should I put in each cylinder????

Well got 2 bent rods.. now how do I get these rods off the piston ?? It's not like my 420A where the pin slides out when hammer this I tired everything and nothing is working am I missing something here or what there is no pin I can see keeping it in place just won't come out

They are press fit. Might need more than a hammer to get the pins out. Like a hydraulic press. Any machine shop can press them off and mount the new ones for a reasonable price.
