I have a HX35 and i'm looking to install it on my 1g. My buddy can fabricate a manifold up with his tig. Should I just be patient and do a twin-scroll setup w/twin wastegates or does it really make a big difference to run twinscroll?

HX35 factory T3 housing (NOT BEP)

Twin scroll definitely spools up the turbo faster. I would absolutely go with a twin scroll manifold, and if you are fabbing one up, I would try to go with something in the lines of what mr peepers did. He basically built the fastest spooling hx35 setup, and best of all, his setup only utilizes one wastegate. I went with a twin scroll with twin wastegates, but honestly, with the results peepers has gotten it isnt needed. Check it out:

Twin scroll is always superior, it usually comes down to cost as BEP housings are cheaper to make work.

Going twinscroll, you have to think about the fabbing design of the manifold of course. The space it will take up (especially if 2 WG's), the strength, the placement of the manifold (HEAT), being able to use tools to actually tighten the bolts/nuts (that would suck LOL), equal length runners
Then there is making the downpipe.

Or buy a used setup. Either way, it's seems to be worth it from what I've read. I've been thinking about using this HX35 I got in a trade (worked on a Dodge Ram and payment was his old turbo) and would go twinscroll if I used the Holset.

Thank you all for the input. I like the idea of the twin-scroll with the one wastegate. I was pretty sure that if performed much better and spooled faster but figured that I would seek some input. Thanks
