HVAC lights went out

I was driving one night and my hvac lights went out i just thought they were burned out. The other night they came back on for the night and than turned off. A friend of mine hads this same problem and couldnt figure it out. If you have any idea what this is or how to fix it help me out.

short or loose bulb

Most likely loose. They kind of cam-in and then are supposed to stay through friction. A few rail crossings demonstrate the shortcomings of the concept.
