Recently installed a PTE 50 trim,Walbro 255lph pump,650cc injectors,SAFC-II,and SBR2g FMIC.The car is running like crap. When the turbo starts to boost it feels like I hit a brick wall and the car wont go anywhere. It starts to backfire, etc. Also the idle surges..one minute it will be at 700rpms,the next at 1100 or so.I was wondering if anybody could give me some SAFC settings I can use.Aso I do not have a AFPR in it as of yet.So that might also be the problem. Please any help or advice would be appreciated,Im about to go crazy here. Thanks

I cant give you AFC settings since every car is different, but if they are way out of whack it may explain something. What are your current afc settings. And do you have a logger.

Here are all my current AFCII settings....

Unfortunatly no logger

Also the car is throwing a CEL code for the MAS so that could be it.I popped the hood while the car was running and unplugged the MAS.Ran the same. Then I plugged it back in and the car idled perfectly fine for 2 seconds and started to idle crappy again? What do you think?

You should really get a logger. ;) For 650cc injectors the mathematical compensation is about minus 30% (450/650 - 1). So you are pretty damn rich from idle to redline. Try setting low throttle 1k rpm to -30 and see how it runs. IF it idles normal, set all of the low side to -30. High side is going to be tougher. On my car I would just go to -30 all the way across on high throttle (should be 9.5:1 if there are no problems with fuel delivery or air metering), but I would recomend you get a logger and up it slowly. Everything you describe could be symptoms of an over rich situation. Of course, if youre mas is really bad, all this wont help you.

Ok well i just got back from outside.I set the Low at 1000 rpms to -30...The car wouldn't even stay started. It seems the closer to zer i set it the better the car idles....alot better so i ended up setting it to -7 and the car idles fine.Is that okay or a bad thing?Where do I go from here?Should I change the other low settings? Thanks for the help.

Wow the more I richen it out the better its getting. The turbo actually spools a little.Still hesitates a little but the car is actually drivable.Im actually getting somewhere here :thumb:

although i have a 1g, i noticed the same thing today. i have a 2g mas and 650cc injectors and the reccomended formula was supposed to be like -10% across for me, however the closer i got to zero in low thr. the better my fuel trims got. i had 100% from 1k to 4k and they were near zero. these calculation dont exactly work in my opinion no matter what gen car you have.

Something is wrong. Time to put a logger on it. Check for leaks, compression, and all that good stuff first.

FWIW, the calculations work for me every time. And every car I help tune. IF everything makes sense (fuel pressure, injector flow, air metering, etc). In my case the WBO2 matches the calculated AFR within .1 to .2:1. But as soon as something goes wrong (boost leak for example) they no longer match.

Im going to have to check it for leaks. The problem is not completly solved yet because it does still sputter and backfire when the turbo really really tries to spool up,and right when you first start the car the idle surges and it runs a little rough for awhile until you actually start driving it.Im going to check for boost leaks and put in another MAS to see how that helps. Also my Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, and Hallman ES MBC will be installed.I know something is not right here,I have to have my highs set at about +45% across the board, and my lows set about -3% across...thats not exactly normal, but the car is running best that way and before when I had it set using the recommended settings the car had trouble going over 20mph,and I almost got rearended a couple times.I had to put my hazards on..I was so embarrassed OMG I should be able to put a finger on the problem this weekend.

With my MAS stock im at -33% at 6000 and 7000rpm bands on my car with 650cc and 50trim on my SAFC. 5000 is -28% and it goes lower from there as the rpm is lower as in 4000rpm is like -17% and 3000 is -15% etc.

At 1000 rpm on low throttle anything less than about -8 and my car starts to idle like crap.I tried -15 across the board on the low throttle side and my car didn't want to move.Could it be I need a FPR?Im installing my Aeromotive this weekend.Along with my friends old MAS(He switched over to a MAF setup)Even when I start the car up now it idles funny and when I rev it a little it just wants to shut down. Then when I start to drive it,its fine.Weird stuff.ANy idea what the problem is?

Stock FPR will give you too much fuel pressure. Leaning out further would make it run better in that case. But either way, after you make a change it takes a few minutes of idling for the ECU to adjust the low trims. If you dont give it time and STFT cant take up the slack, it wont run as well as it would after LTFT could adjust. 1g might use different terminolgy.

Did you check for intake leaks yet? Did you try running stock injectors and leaving the AFC zeroed out?

I think I might have the same problem w/ my car, I haven't tuned it yet but I have ECU
+ in mine and it says I'm running lean @ idle. Once I get my palm in the mail I'll tune it...But it burns hella gas...my post is "Major power loss boosting - plz help"

dave after hearing your car last sunday, i would say either your MAS is junk, or u got a bad valvetrain issue hence all the sputtering and ticking. try doing a compression test man, valve seals could be burnt up.
