There is a kid at my school that has a gsr, he talks shit to anyone and everyone. I would like nothing more than to shut him up. I have a 98 gs-t with gauges and yokohama tires--completely stock still...i have apexi n1 catback on the way. can a stock gs-t take a gsr that has:

aem cold air intake
aem fuel pressure regulator
aem fuel rail
apexi n1 exhaust
ctr cams
dc headers

Hes a pretty good driver, he supposedly runs 14.5 but no one believes him...i saw him take off from a 30 roll and i wasnt too impressed-but i cant say that in case i lose. I am a stock gs-t running about 13-14 psi...exhaust on the way...what do u think????:dsm:

forgot to mention- its a 2001-hes got coilovers, and 5zigen wheels on yokohama avses 100's...skunk 2 camber kit..thanx

I believe GSRs run ~15.5 stock. I think the race would basically come down to driver skill level. A poor launch from either one of you would probably be the end of it. You should just go race him. If he beats you, then no big deal. After you get an exhaust and MBC on your car, you'll hand his ass to him.

should i take him from a roll because honda's and torque arent best friends, so i think if i am rolling i will have a better chance, and what bout top speed, cause if we r neck and neck, wer gonna go to like 140 cause we r both too proud to call it quits at like 100.. thanx :dsm:

gsr`s are pretty slow, get some race gas, get the exhaust and drive good and you can beat him pretty easily

GSRs arent horribly slow like those b16s or the new civic si, but u will definetly have to drive well to beat him if hes a good driver that is. my boy wit a 94 TEG gsr wit 140k miles on the car ran 15.20s 5 times in a row just wit an AEM CAI and no spare or jack, thats it!!!!! and that gsr ur talkin about has some more mods on it, so drive good ..hahahaha

see wut the dsm can do

race gas?!?! we are talking about a 14 sec car and a low 15 to high 14 sec honda...race gas shouldnt be in the equation. I didnt look at your mods but if you were stock then it would be a drivers race. with intake mbc and boost gauge it would be pretty easyh to walk. Just go race him and report in the track forum cause the "who could win" threads are usually frowned upon and turn into flame wars. Good luck
Andrew

I think if you're street racing at all, much less 140mph, you're both idiots. I don't care who wins. With any luck you'll both live to talk about it, and so will all the innocent by-standers.

Did you at least do the free mods??

i said race gas bc he said hes boosting 13-14 PSi on a T25 with obviously stock pump and injectors, race gas will make a difference their

You will lose, sorry but a stock GS-T will not keep the lead on a GS-R with those things already in place.

What is your experience? Do you KNOW, and I mean understand the car you are driving/shifting?

I know the Honda hatred runs deep on this site, but many of us know they can run with most of us. It is not abnormal to see a hatch or CRX beat a stock gs-t.OMG

It is just the facts!

U should beat him. My friend has a Type SH Lude with an Apexi N1 and he actually looses power b/c it needs the back pressure the N1 don't give. He actually also has pullys and a CAI. so basically the same setup and the Lude only runs like 15.9's it was faster stock the exhaust kills him! So race him u willl win.

thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard , noone needs backpressure, if you know anything about engines you know that backpressure is the enemy of any engine. thats why people open up thier exhausts. how would you feel if you were running and someone put thier hand over your mouth would that help you, NO !!!!!!

I always thought a little backpressure was good on a N/A engine; doesn't a little backpressure in the exhaust create a scavenging effect vacuuming out the junk gas and improving bottom end a little.

Yes, a little backpressure is better in a nonturbo.

Thats why it is NOT reccomended to go with an exhaust larger than 2.25 inches on a n/t.

My integra had a larger exhaust that was straight through on it, i switched to a 2.25 inch Apexi exhaust and the car was definitely faster.

Anyways...with his mods he'll be quick if he can drive it. i/h/e on those cars can do alot for them. also, its a 2500 lb car. that revs high. i used to have one that was basic modded and it was pretty quick.

I say he runs at least a 14.9

If you cant drive your car, watch out.

As a matter of fact, i say you'll lose.

this one kid i work with has a gsr....about the same mods as that kid your talking about. Beat a 5.0 like it was nothing, and hung with a GT mustang to the finish. But a DSM......like it was said before, it sounds like its up to the driver. Good luck.

You should check into the things you say, befor you say them. If you know anything about engines then you know that depending on what type of induction system you use you may NEED back pressure. The mustang guy at the bottom should know this... If you run a mustang N/A (no charger) with open headers and then run it with a quality full exhaust you know tht it will consistantly run faster times through the full exhaust. We are talking street cars here, not all out race cars.

your not gonna get the gsr on top end with a t25, esp when u can rev high in the gizzr, 0-70ish you should take him

 at bench racing...

Topend: You're gonna loose.
Lowend: You're going to loose I think...

I think his High Revvvvvvving Engine is going to get the best of you because he can still be in first gear at 30 and not loose anything at all because he won't spin much.

Im gonna side with the gsr. But with a couple SIMPLE mods you could easily win. Get a 1g bov, boost controller, and a cat back. Crank the boost to 17 psi and smoke him.

:thumb: ways
1. get a LSD and smoke him with your stock exhaust.
2. get a 2.5" DP 3" flex pipe back... and smoke him
3. do all the free mods make MBC for 5 bucks @ 15psi and smoke him
4. cut off your cat and smoke him
5. buy a 1g awd and smoke him in 60 feet and then cut in front of him and end the race right then and there...

:thumbdown ways
OR get a body kit and the aerodynamics will give you at least 50 ponies to the wheelies on your 20 inch spinners, and the under ground lights will make you lighter and then get the big chrome exhaust tip so the pressure will push you like a rocket propelled spaceship.

17psi

say hello to fuel cut and say good bye to your clutch

I was under the impression that backpressure is only necessary for improving gas mile. This is because it provides more power in the 1-3K RPM range. However, a bigger exhaust is always better at higher RPMs, and therefore better for drag racing even on an N/A engine.
