I'm thinking about making my first purchase after getting the car running right, and I was thinking of the Logger from dsmloggers.com... How does one use it and also is this the smartes choice so that I know I'm not messing anything up when I do make mods.

It's one of the smartest things to get and it's very simple to use. Since it comes with MMCD, you will be able to log various data i.e. mass airflow, intake temps, fuel trims, etc. But one of the most important is knock. With this information, you will be able to make airflow corrections and fuel corrections if you decide to get an Apex AFC, S-AFC II, or a NEO, based on this information. A logger is one of the most important things to get when you start to tune so you can see what the ECU is seeing.

The logger is a great must have tool unless your running DSMlink. The cable you get from dsmloggers plugs into the diagnostic port and the other end plugs into your palm. It shows many different actions of the car, but the 4 main things I watch on mine is knock, RPM, TPS, and Timing.

Thank you guys very much.. I think I will follow your advice and get the controller and free up the exhaust for now. I jumped the gun a little.. then I'll get the logger fuel pump and some other stuff.

Oh yeah, when I do get it though, how do I use it.. While driving, while idling? I mean how does it work. Do I need to get on it? What?

You plug in the logger, and get it ready to log, You'll get a set of directions with it to show you how to get to the logging portion..... you need a good strip of road. You want to do a 3rd gear pull from as low of a rpm as you can until redline..... Wide Open Throttle the whole time. Then you stop the log, save it, review it, tune accordingly. Its easier if someone is riding with you to start/stop/save the log.
