Hey guys i want to make a custom gauge bazzel for my 2 g.
i want to know if someone knows the step by step prosses in making something out of fiberglass, what tools , material and all the good stuff.
thanks guys ivan

ok guys im not an idiot, i alredy went on google and youtube.
they really dont tell you exactly what the prosess is. they all have a secret spray or something. i want to know whre to buy the fiberglass and all the required materials and tools.
i would really appreciate it :thumb:

Click the link I posted. I've used it with no "secret spray" and it came out fine. Fiberglass is not rocket science man. Hit up Advanced Auto Parts or something for the fiberglass mat, resin, and hardener.

I don't believe it, seems like you just want to be spoon fed. I looked at a few of the links in the google search. Sometimes you have to read to learn. Let alone jaymans links shows everything you need.

You can order glass from there, or you can get it on ebay, or like they said, even wal-mart has glass supplies.

There is no way we can cover everything in this forum. If you're trying to make the next bike for Lance Armstrong or a F1 car body you need an autoclave, special molds, resin, pressure/vacuum sources and etc.

You can very easily make a fiberglass sheet, or lay it onto something and copy it. For just a sheet, mix resin with hardener (ratios will be on the containers of resin and hardener as they are sold in pairs normally), lay fiberglass mat or twill onto wax paper, then smear some of the resin onto it. Add layers as desired, smush the excess resin out if you can. You'll wind up with a light strong sheet of yellow fiberglass.

It's the same process for laying over something, but instead of wax paper on the floor, you use a release agent like petroleum jelly. Odds are good the part will be ruined your first few times, so make sure you have a spare.

I've never used FG to fix body damage or fill in gaps. I'm sure if I had the need to, I'd go ahead and just try it on something I didn't care about.

Once you have the basics you'll need to read more about advanced mold making, vacuum bagging, finishing coats, stiffening layers, and other elements of fiberglass/carbon/composites.

Again, the best way to learn is to drop $50 on supplies, and when it's not doing what you want it to do, ask google.

Fiberglass isn't too hard. My dad has fiberglass patched quarter panels on multiple cars with multiple angles/bends/whatever to them. He never did it before, he just went to the store, grabbed the stuff, and read the directions and went at it. He also made a fiberglass 3 gauge pillar pod for my brother tat turned out pretty nice. No templates or anything, he just used basic stuff and used material that wouldn't harden instantly so if he messed up he had time to change it before it dried and then let it sit over night. I'm sure being an engineer helped him a little bit, but honestly not much.

I've done a little glass since then, just minor stuff, and it's not hard. Just start with something dumb that you don't need and then move onto your real project. You get the hang of it relatively quickly.
