I need to open up the throttle body i have the upper and lower halves, and I cant get the upper and lower halves separated!!! I tried heating the screws up w/ a torch, and still cant get those suckers off. How do you guys do it??? Any suggestions?? I tried shooting wd-40 down in them too but no luck.... i dont know maybe drill them out and get new screws?? ahh!! something so simple is always a project isnt it! hha. Thanks guys.

yeah im sure, like the actual TB is in two halves (see pic). The bottom is the air compartments where like all the air paths are, like the ISC, FIAV etc. There are 5 screws i need to remove to separate them. I just cant get the screws to move at all and was wondering what any of you did.

I know this is ancient, but I need to find out if you ever did get them off, and how you did it. I'm trying to get my TB separated because I have a brand new FIAV I need to install. Those screws are bitches! Why would Mitsu play such a cruel trick and use phillip head screws? You can't even use a socket on them like you can with the ISC. Just CRUEL!!!!

my God i was dumb last year  i still have never taken mine apart but if they are anything like the throttle body plate...you have to find just the perfect screwdriver...i searched and searched to find just the right one to fit the screw....i know that doesnt really help much....but maybe if im bored later ill go take my spare one apart

I got mine apart, after thinking about what tools are availible :p Go buy/find an Impact Driver. One of those screwdrivers that you place into the screw head, then you use a rubber mallet and hammer on the top of the driver, and the downward force of the mallet keeps the screwhead in the screw to keep it from stripping and turns it at the same time. A really really handy device actually now that i bought it last year. I believe it was like $20 Good luck!

Amen to that brotha.

Or hammer on the screws to loosen them up. :D

Well, I just took a hammer and chisel to those screws and was able to knock them loose and then use the screwdriver. I didn't even strip a one, holy shit. I can't believe it.

Since I was in there, I also changed the hoses that bring coolant to and from the TB. I cleaned the TB and found a vacuum hose that seemed to go to nowhere so I plugged it.

Got too dark, so I hook everything up tomorrow and see if she works right.
