How to make stereo almost impossible to remove

I have a double din in dash dvd player and deck. i want to make it so it is VERY difficult to remove. i was told to use "stock" brackets and mount them that way. i dunno. what have people here done? like mine comes out fairly easy.

IF your worried about it getting stolen, I found that the best solution is to take it with you everytime you get out of the car.If you just want to secure it the stock setup was just fine for me. If it's aftermarket the kit should adapt to your stock brackets.

Most stereos come with adapter plates so you can use the original mount. I think they are called J plate adapters. I use them everytime. Those stupid baskets are a thiefs best friend. The only down fall is if you do get hit by thieves and they can't get the stereo out they may trash the interior and the unit trying to, or vent frustration.

That happened to me and I had to get a new dash and center console (so I got to upgrade to the GS console). It still gave me a little sense of victory though, just imagining that guy cussing and fuming cause it wouldn't come out, still makes me laugh.

If they want to steal it, they will if they have enough time. And if you mess up their plans, many of them will just see how much they can break. Murdering is too good for thieves, and you just can't make torture last long enough.

As mentioned in the previous post, anything short of welding it to the car, will not be that difficult for thieves to get it out. Best bet is to purchase a top notch alarm, and even that is not guaranteed protection

Don't go around with the stereo blasting 2 min before you park the car. If you don't want it stolen, HIDE IT. No fancy lights, make a stealth box for the sub... that sort of thing.

The best way to hide the HU is to recess it back. Then you take the old STOCK HU apart and essentially make the front into a plate. When you park, put the OEM "head unit" over your nice one and walk away.

This summer i am getting rid of my gauge pod and moving other things out of sight. I really don't need the pyrometer, so the boost and FP will be fine. I am going to dump the AFC and run DSM link also.

nothing is immposible to remove...you can hinder the efforts, but if they want it bad enough and have the right equipment they can get it

this said, i attached a lockign cable i found somewhere...built like a bike lock but made of a cable a little thiner then heavy sub power cable to a steel loop that was on teh case of my deck...you can unlock it by going in under the console...it will stop anyone from a slash and grab job....but if they have any tools your screwed

k, thanks for all the help, i do have a very good alarm and shit, but i just want it in there good in case someone does get in it would take them a fairly long time to remove.

God I love how you think. I say a good 40 or 50,000 volt jolt right up the old poop chute. But only set it up if the complete the circuit. Seat is the ground and make the positive the console. Saw that on beyond 2000 once. It warned you though then burnt the headliner.

That 'Teather' is a smart idea...you gotta think most thieves aren't gonna spend to much time if it dosen't come right out...also the OEM COVER is a damn good idea as well...but as stated above...not blasting it wherve you go is a plus...I usually turn it donw when i get close to wherver i'm going...no need to Advertise what you have...and if i'm out on aq nice night i never pop my hatch and if anyone asks what i have i just say some crappy Sony Xplods and a RF Amp.

just use factory metal mounts. when my car got broke into they tried to get it but didnt. u can c where they to a crow bar and tried to pry it out.

the harder you make it for them to take out, the more theyre gonna F up your car while trying. Just insure the car and move on.

I agree with the insurance. Wouldnt they cover that? That way, if something got stolen, you would get new stuff too
