Thats what I am trying to say. Torque = how fast you can pick it up(Acceleration), and HP = holding the weight(speed)

Way too simplified... that's as bad as saying that torque gets you off the line and horsepower keeps you going wich it's kind of true but too simplified. We can make this thread about 10 pages long just trying to figure out what's better hp or torque.

There is a difference between quick and speed.

True, 1200 torque is an overkill, but it would still speed up extremly fast. Even AFTER your peak torque, at what..4000 rpms with a peak of 1200 your still going to have a MASSIVE amount of torque. What, about 600 through the rest of the powerband? LOL

Yeah torque is all what matters... My next project will be a fox stang with a ford powerstroke diesel under the hood. :rolleyes:

(Torque x Engine speed) / 5,252 = Horsepower <--- nuff said...

I wasn't trying to make it hard to understand. Just telling people that They still need torque. Dont go and try to get as much HP as you can and try to keep torque down just because it will break parts.

Without torque you will not make horsepower. Torque is what drives the car. Horsepower is just a different way of measuring torque, they have a direct relationship.

horsepower= (torque*RPM)/5250

"horsepower sells cars, torque wins races"

If you have an engine with 200hp and only 50 torque, your not going to be making full hp untill you hit 21,000RPM.

I would much rather have torque;)

If you reduce your gear ratio you can produce more torque, but would lose RPMs.
Which would mean you would lose speed right?
But if you dont want torque then raise your gear ratio.
