I'm having alot of trouble installing a 1g 91 GST trans into my car, The engine is in it held up by the back and timing belt side mount, the front mount is off.

I have been trying with my gf for 2 hours to install it, and NOTHING is working, I'm going crazy...

What is the easiest way to get this thing in?

I tried using a lift but, because it was strapped on I couldn't manuever the trans very well to slide into the engine, and when it finally did, the whole thing flipped over and was just impossible so I gave up with a lift.

Is there a secret to getting this thing in?

funny thing i just removed mine like a month ago.. the way you have to get it in is too basically make the diff point straight down and and lift it because the dif wont clear the right lower control arm/subframe mount, with the diff point ing downand lifting it into position, slide the output shaft inthe clutch.. then start to mount trans but before you get it all the way youll then have to rotate the diff up and into its normal postion, then you can fully slide the trans on and bolt it down

I always used the "human tranny jack" method. Get it up on blocks or a jack, roll it onto your stomach and legs, lift, align, and pop her in. Have someone up top with a hand or two to help guide if you get off track.

Rotate and angle as needed.

trying this way bymyself... so far its not helping, I can't tell when it goes in, I mean does it slide all the way in and then i can let go and install bolts? or does it kinda hang out a bit?

update: It wasnt going on because the front mount was off, making the engine sit back, this caused a trans bolt to get snagged onto the frame of the car. I then lifted the front mount with a jack, and on went the trans in seconds. Thanks guys.
