How to Identify this fuel pump. Supposed to be a 255LPH...

I bought my '95 GSX from a guy with the intention that it had a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump installed and the 8 gauge wires for it were already run.

Well, I found a black 8 gauge wire headed most of the way to the fuel pump, but it was no longer connected to anything. I'm guessing that It USED TO HAVE an aftermarket fuel pump, but I have no way of telling...

hopefully those that have installed one before can tell me what I've got here.

Can't tell from that picture.

Best way to tell for sure is to pull it and look for numbers on the side ( x-ref at the Walbro site.) Second best way to tll for sure is to disconnect the outlet, but the end of the hose in a large container and activate the pump for a known length of time (say, six minutes). Measure the resulting fuel discharge, multiply by 10 (for a six minute test) and that is your flow rate (at whatever voltage your battery was putting out.)

I'm guessing that it's not all too easy to pull out? I read somewhere that you have to drop the gas tank, if that's the case, I'm not sure I want to do it just yet. I've got an awful lot of other projects going on this car right now... (Engine rebuild)

I didn't have to drop my gas tank in my 96 RS and it shouldn't be different for yours. If you have a repair manual, it helps. If not, get one. But in any case, just relieve the fuel pressure,disconnect everything running to the pump, and pull it out. There is a definite difference in a Walbro and a stock pump by looking at it.
