I've searched on the forum but didn't find an answer to this.

I've got a pair of carbon fiber stile tail lights that used to leak, and the interior part of the tail lighst is full of rust. is there any way to open'em and clean the interior, without damaging?
Thanks
Francesco

You can use a heat gun and heat the gun and careful pry them apart with a flat head screw driver. To put them back together you will need some clear silicone and some of that blue tape it's mostly use to hold a new windshield in place and other things but anyway once you glue back together you would want to wrap the tape as tight as you can to make sure they seal good and leave them overnight and you should be good.

My friends black out their headlight housings by taking them apart like this. The way they do it is put it in an oven and just watch it until they can pull the front clear casing off by hand. They have a lot of experience with it though and have the times down, it's probably not the best thing to experiment with.

300-350 degrees for 10-15 minutes works with headlights, should work with the tails too, but I have personally never tried them...

300-350 is to much i put mine in for 200 for 4 minutes and they came out great.:talon:

Some ovens, aka the POS in my apartment's lowest setting is 350 :notgood: But like I said it will be fine. Just don't overdue it with like 475, 350 is the highest I would use. With headlights it took almost 10 minutes for all off the silicone to be easily pliable, I'm unsure with taillights as I have never had a desire to take the apart.

I imagine it would be the same seeing as they are pretty much the same thing, just a different location. I've been meaning to do this to one of my tails because it leaks water in but I'm kinda lazy. If it works out, post back and let me know so I can get off my ass and actually do something.
