Neato. Shouldn't the springs go under suspension though?

BTW- (to keep it on topic)
N/T DSMs are, when taken care of, VERY reliable. My 1.8 4G37 has 201,000mi and runs great, still on stock clutch, stock transmission, mostly stock components, save a headgasket.

Turbos are, well, turbos. But, as with anything, if you take good care of it and don't abuse it, it should last.

When i went to school i drove it back and forth 30 miles everyday. Right now has about 125,700 miles on it and drives like a charm, except for the slippin clutch.

My previous DSM, it was an automatic & had no mods...always very well maintained. All fluids were changed religiously, never raced, etc.. For no apparent reason, the transmission went at 53k miles. I looked into the problem and found that this is actually a common problem among DSMs. Thank god the drivetrain was under warranty to 55k miles, or I would have been out about $3000. Other than that...no major problems....yet.

I agree, if a car is properly maintainted it should (emphasis on should) last a good long while. DSMs defiently are not the most reliable car out there though, unfortunatley.

In my experience, my car only breaks if I do something intentionally or unintentionally to make it break. The only NON user error I have had with my car is initial turbo selection.Driving in normal traffic off boost at normal rates of speed I have had no issues with my car.

ok if youve been in the hangout forum lately then you might have seen my thread about how im about to give up on my rs and try to get a wrx. im not sure if ill be able to get it right now so i need a fallback plan just in case it doesnt work out this year. if im not able to get it right now then i will probably save up and put a stage 1 turbo kit made by motofool on my car. only thing i need to know is how reliable would this be? id run it daily at around 5psi and my car right now has 88k miles. i want to be able to have some power if i cant the wrx but i want it to last too. would my car be able to handle this added power?:dsm:

Like he said, but I would do a compression test firstn and make sure you are good to go on your 60K mile service.

I know its kinda a knoob question but what should the compression read? and for the 60k mile service you mean new t-belt and water pump?

9psi daily & 10psi for the track. Even went to 11 when I raced a 240sx turbo, handled it fine with 93+. 5 psi will be fine, nothing higher while non-intercooled though.

As James said just make sure you have a full inspection done of your RS's condition before you do this. The compression check is a very good indication of whether to turbo or not.

just wondering what everyones thought was of a 2gnt, in terms of reliability. i know i am used to speed, but i figure i need something reliable, and they look nicer then hondas IMO. Are these cars known to have major problems or are they generally considered sound.
thanks.

I had my 97 GS for almost a year and never had a problem with it. Its kind of hit and miss with the NT's. Some will be perfect for you and others will give you more headaches.

i'd say they are reliable... mechanic just checked it like a week ago, said it was fine, nothing wrong with it... and my car has ALOT of miles on it so impretty happy so far!! :thumb:

Mines pretty reliable all its needed was a new head gasket and then the timing belt changed and thats about it, oh and a new fuel filter.

3 good friends and 4 NTs (2gs, 2rs) have all had problems. One GS blew out two engines...all of them hate their cars. Personally, I say save and get a gst.

I'm thinking of getting one to use as my daily driver since they are pretty cheap.

I will be keeping it stock or very close to stock for a while.

My car has 180k km's on it and is running fine and has had no major problems with it. Just do the regular maitance and you should be fine.
