well i've had my first dsm(91 tsi) for about a week now and its been great but i'm still learnin about how its works. i am gonna change the oil this weekend and want to know how often to change it? can i go 3000 miles like other vehicles or should it be change more frequently? i heard that it needs changin more than a regular car b/c its turbo and the oil gets hotter and stuff the normal. anyways somebody just give me some input on how often to change the oil and filter

im not sure if the turbo is different, but i just changed mine today and it was exactly 4.5 quarts.

The recommended manufacturer oil change is 7,500 in accordance to the chilton manual...many people here change at 3K, which I think is overkill, oil has come a long way since the 3,000 mile rule was created.

As for oil capacities they are as follows:
2.0L N/T 2G: 4.3L

2.0L T 2G: 4.4L

2.0L N/T 1G: 4.4L

2.0L T 1G: 4.5L

1.8L N/T 1G: 3.9L

It may be over kill but its better than changing to late and screwing up your engine. i see it as it doesnt hurt the engine to change it that often, so why not? its only $25 or so. for conventional oil that is

No way I rould run ANY Dino oil over 3K in ANY Turbo motor - These Turbo Motors DESTROY Dino oil - Synthetic is truly incredible stuff, it's not oil - My plan is to run Syn for 6 months, Valvoline or Mobil 1 only, I love Castrol Dino oil but their Syn is crap - Changing filter every 3 months - With ZERO OIL LEAKS BTW I add 1/8 a quart of Syn every week that goes SOMEWHERE? - & yes the very rare T shaped gasket on the Mitsu Filter is the ONLY filter I'd use if you are running a water to oil cooler - I had a VERY close call with the traditional flat quad ring style gasket found on most EVERY Oil filter early in my Mitsu career when I still had the POS water to oil cooler.

My 1G holds 5 quarts now that I have the Air to Oil Cooler.
