Hey guys, Iv been looking at getting an AWD DSM to tinker with over winter, the entire point is that I would like a project to keep me busy on the weekends, but I don't really know the value of these cars yet. I am looking at 91 Eagle Talon TSI, the body has 186k miles, while the engine has 80k on the block, and 30k on the head. The transmission was just swapped out wiht a ~100k mile tranny, it shifts great. It has a new ACT2600 Clutch wiht 4k miles, newer brakes and tires, ARP head studs, evo3 head gasket, balance shaft kit, MBC, Boost and EGT guages, new waterpump and timing belt, rebuilt oil pump wiht 95 cross cut gears, walbrow 255lph fuel pump, trunk mount Optima Red Top and msd plug wires, The paint is faded in some areas, but the body is quite straight save 1 or 2 dings. Now the BAD. The car leaks oil BAD ~.5 to 1 qt a week (he says the plug that goes to the balance shaft kit is leaking) The transfer case leaks fluid as fast as you pour it in (he said front seal and it would a 5 minute fix) the gas guage and oil pressure guages do not work, it needs an IAC controller as the idle surges, it has a CEL do to a bad o2 sensor (im just taking his word on that) The passenger side headlight does not go all the way up, powersteering does not function, driverside window doesn't roll down (he claims he tested the motor, and its just the switch) and lastly, it has no tailpipe, the exhaust exits about 1 ft from the back of the car. Also the car is a salvage title as he bought it as a shell. I test drove the car and it drives GREAT, pulls hard, feels strong, shifts like butter etc.
If anyone can give me any insight on how much you think the car is worth and if the oil leak and transfer case leaks are as easy to fix as he claims, I would REALLY appreciate it. Sorry for the long post
