well the other day while driving home from work my clutch seemed to stop engaging/disengaging. Half way home i had to start jamming it into first and you could just feel the tranny bang. second and third wasnt so bad because i revved it up so it just fell into gear. This weekend i changed out the slave cylinder because i pulled back the boot and it was leaking. I bled the whole system forl ike 1 hrgot alot of junk out. The clutch seems like its no opening enough when i press down i hear a slight screech or chatter i took it for a drive and it seemed ok the car goes into gear a little stiffer now. so heres my questions.
1. how much damage could i have done from jamming into 1st approx 8-10 times
2. what are the chances the master cylinder is also leaking.
3. is there a way to adjust the peddle so that when i press it down it engages more or opens more? i checked rre but ehh im not too handy

p.s. i just had the whole tranny rebuilt stock with double second syncs. thanks for any info in advance

No, you're good. I think this has happened to all of us at one time or other. Yes you can adjust the peddle under the dash.

I would go ahead and replace the master cylinder too. You can get a rebuild kit for it for like $20.00

1. I dont think you messed anything up by slamming it into gear. Depending on if you ground the gear at all, you can chip teeth off of the gears and/or clutch. You would know if you have done that though.
I think your clutch isnt building enough pressure. Check the fluid level first off to make sure thats not the problem. See if your slave cylinder is leaking, go under the dash and the pedal assembley above the clutch there is a rubber seal around the piston. It will be wet and leaking if its bad. You will also see a rod while you are down there. That is the adjustment arm for the clutch pedal for travel. Turning it a little bit does alot. In is lower and out is higher. Its a PITA so if you like being on your back for a bit with your feet on your headrest then your golden. Post your results back for help for other members. Good luck dude!!

i already changed out the slave. i didnt know the same thing could be seen under the dash by pulling back the rubber boot to check for fluid. thats what i did to the slave. im a big dude and it was horrible trying to go under my dash. i tried to turn stuff but now that i know what to do i dont want to try again it was frustrating to say the least. if the car doesnt go into gear tomorrow then i know something is wrong and have another leak. thank god though so far it seems by what you all said so far my gears are still good. not to mention when i put my clutch in a year ago i got a new clutch fork.

The slave cylinder is nowhere near the clutch pedal assembly...are you talking about the master cylinder?
