How much copper spray do you put on the headgasket... light coat... heavy coat... do you let it dry or install after applying it?

I have a metal gasket that was mounted on a block and torqued but was removed before installation in the vehicle. Is it still good to use? The block and head are fresh from the machine shop.

Not usually, once it is torqued its pretty useless.

THAT BEING SAID, I have reused a bunch of MLS gaskets numerous time with a little copper spray on them. Just dont be suprised if they dont seal up.

i also install it about 15 minutes after spraying it in two coats. first one not too heavy, then the second you can put a nice heavy coat. i also pushed about 30 psi with no problem, and this was on a cheap gasket that comes with the topline kit

I could see this if you are running 1) a lot of boost or 2) if you are running head studs. I have never used any sort of sealant on any of my head gaskets in the past, but I have never had to run 30+ psi of boost either..... I'm not saying that you should or shouldn't run copper spray, just sharing my own personal experiences.

This is a 8.3:1 cr, 383 Stroker, T-76 Turbo, blowing through a 950cfm carb on Methanol. It was backed by a chevy powerglide and installed in an 88 RX7. 10-12 psi, o-ring'd block, NO SEALER required. This engine still runs great. Never blown a head gasket, and it's street driven a couple time a week.

I was just inquiring about the copper spray because the gasket was torqued down already and I didnt know if it was reusable. I do have ARP head studs.

I would hope he is running head studs and why would you build a turbo motor that couldnt hold alot of boost? Im mean I can see that you have a n/t and no you probably wouldnt need copper spray.

It works and its proven. I would use it.
